When did we shift from total household views to total minutes?
Probably when they implemented the password sharing crackdown. I’m sure those household numbers dropped like a rock and any number of minutes watched sounds like a lot without context.

I think views are pretty useless for streaming when people can click a show and then turn it off 5 minutes into an episode
You can definitely see how long people watched too. How many households watched a full episode is what I meant. Again, you could just press play and walk away a dozen times a day if you want a show to have better "total minutes watched" numbers. Which I would totally do if I made a show and was concerned about it lol

It's the same principle as Taylor swift setting listening records. Her fans actually do just play a song over and over and over again all day long so that she holds these records.
ETA: There are also a lot of people who think her fans use bots to re-listen all day long for the same purpose. Bizarre behavior, but it's out there

You realize how much a billion is right?
You could leave it running all year and you arent gonna make a difference.

Lol, I'm not talking about one person dog. Hence my Swift comment.
Disney has plenty of fanboys. Plus I was moreso making general statements

ok but the numbers came from Luminate, which uses ACR technology on smart TVs to track what content is being watched on a household level.
I don't know why they would be disproportionate towards one service or another? Their entire business model is based around the accuracy of their data.

Disney+ had, roughly 150 or 160 million subscribers. So, the average D+ subscriber watched 18 to 20 minutes of The Acolyte.
#Impressive
(By comparison, the average D+ subscriber watched 5 to 6 hours of Bluey in 2024.)
