Love the West Texas sound. Guy Clark, Lyle Lovett, Verlon Thompson, Ray Wylie Hubbard are all favorites of mine.

What do you think about modern Texas country bands, such as Eli Young Band, Josh Abbot Band, and Randy Rogers?

There hasn't been country music in Nashville since 1974.

Nashville country right now is pop music with a twang. Or maybe I'm just not finding the kind of country I like. Texas country isn't a lot better but I give it a slight edge.

Download the apps for KFWR (95.9 The Ranch) and KRVF (106.9 The Ranch) and/or check out 95.03 The Range on tune-in radio. Good stations.

Texas, by far.
I love Josh Abbott, RRB & Aaron Watson.
Where is the variety in mainstream nashville country? One guy has a major hit song about a beach, so for seemingly the next three years everyone has to sing about beaches. Then one guy has a major hit song about being country/redneck, so for seemingly the next three years everyone has to sing about how country they are. God damn thats aggravating! And what happened to fiddles & slide guitars?
I had given up on country music radio about 10 years ago; however, I moved to Austin, TX about 6 months ago and love listening to country radio stations again! Some seem to play 75% Texas Country, 25% Nashville Country. Nice!!
Edit: Today's Texas Country is still far from the traditional country music sound of 30-40 years ago if thats what youre going for. But its exponentially better than todays mainstream nashville stuff, imo. Also have to recommend Robert Earl Keen...awesome!

mostly Texas but I do like several Nashville artists as well

Neither right now. Nashville hasn't produced "Country" music since the mid 90's.

Texas/Red Dirt Country is really hard to compete with lately.
But I think guys like Eric Church are going to start making a strong push.
If you don't have Roger Creager, Jason Boland, Cory Morrow, CCR, Wade Bown, Randy Rogers, & guys like them in your rotation then you're missing out.

I didn't know Nashville still made country music. Isn't it really the modern version of "adult contemporary."
But Texas country can wear me out too. One can only stand so many songs about Gruene hall, blue tick hounds, and driving a chevy over caliche rock roads on your way to float the Frio and drink Shiner.

I hate listening to country on the radio. When you see a country music awards show on nowadays it looks like the 1998 America Music Awards. Uncle Kracker, Jewel, Kid Rock, Hootie and the Blowfish etc ect ect.
101.1 in Bossier does 90's at 9:00 so I'll flip it on if I'm in the car for that hour. Even if some good Nashville artist comes along he doesn't get played because brad Paisley will have some new gimmick song or Lady Antebellum will have some crap song they have on repeat.
I still try to catch Gary Allan in concert when I can. He's probably my favorite country artist of all time but he doesn't get played anymore. "Smoke Rings in the Dark" is probably my favorite country some of all time for that matter. With Twitty's "Slow Hand" a close second. I've never listened to Texas country though unless Josh Ritter and Joe Purdy count. Alternative/indie rock is about all I've done the past 7-8 years or so.
