I've long argued for a bright and sunshiney aesthetic for Superman, so you can all blame me if it sucks
(Although I certainly have not argued for camp)

That's why I liked what MOS tried to do by building the character of Superman. Zach Snyder just probably wasn't the best guy to tell that sort of a nuanced story
Him not saving his dad was still so incredibly stupid, bad way to make your point. But overall I didn’t hate that movie as much as some
Now BvS, total, disappointing piece of shite, and I really wanted to like it.

Wolvie's 90s-era costume only worked in Deadpool b/c it was a comedy, for example.
Meh the costume he wore, mask aside would have been fine in any era….. it was just a super gay director trying to emulate the matrix deemed the traditional colors too silly. Now if anything, those outfits date the movie moreso

Man of Steel was an over correction to the dull Superman Returns. There’s a great Superman movie in there to be made in between those two movies. Man of Steel needed a true sequel but unfortunately they rushed BvS in order to build the DC universe. Agree that they were on to something with the “Does a world really need Superman?” theme but Snyder wasn’t the guy to do it.
I’m all for a lighter tone but like others have said, I’m really worried this movie will drift into “camp” territory. Gunn is really interjecting himself into the marketing and promotion of this movie as well.

I didn't either but I know the Superman purists don't like it.
I am not a Superman purist, or fan, really. I fully admit that.

It also looks like there's a ton of other superheroes in this film, which seems odd to me.

Gunn has done fun very well. The question is when does fun turn into camp?
Also, I just have to point out, the 2 things Gunn did well were ensemble movies built around misfits/criminals learning values and to value their team ("family" in the case of GOTG).
Superman's basic premise is the literal opposite of this. An all-powerful deity who needs no team and is supposed to start off as the most wholesome/perfect being from Day 1.

id say yes and no. he learned these values from his childhood. and the premise of the movie has a team trying to recruit him. im sure the team will have different values that challenge his own.
this is the Superman everyone was begging for after seeing Man of Steel.

I'm not saying this is going to fail, be bad, etc.
I'm just saying I'm not sure if audiences are going to like it.
This is approaching, possibly bordering on, camp. ?
Well brace yourself because it's going to be pure cheese. A lot of the dialogue is downright Nickelodeon level atrocious.

A lot of people on this board like this Chris Gore guy. He's saying he heard very positive things from the test screening
There is one spoiler in this video

Surprised Superman is still a white male.

There is a fairly major spoiler from early in the film about a particular casting in that. It’s all over the place now so not sure it’s a big deal to people

The few recaps I’ve seen from the event today say “It was more Krypto footage”
Posted on 4/2/25 at 6:42 pm to FairhopeTider
Yep, I think they've decided to heavily emphasize the pup in marketing

Sneak Peak
Lots of Krypto. Certainly going to be a new take on Superman. Seems like more of a live action cartoon.
