Dude nobody is cherry-picking anything. All I said was that was awesome basically that it’s doing that well domestically and it may have had a chance at a billion if it was 2017. I didn’t say that wb is even happy with the numbers. I don’t know who you’re even speaking to. Why is it so important to try and impose your will in this thread and argue with air?

It's the definition of cherry picking.

Look at the numbers. Ragnarok got 63% of it's world wide sales from the International box office. Superman is getting 40%. Whether adjusted for inflation or not, Superman isn't getting much over 700 million. It's not getting anywhere near 1 billion, today or in 2017.

OK. So you don’t think it would’ve hit 1 billion in 2017. That’s OK. Can we at least agree that maybe it would’ve done better? Or maybe you don’t think it would’ve done better. Do you think it would’ve had the same amount of success? Let’s have a conversation. Or maybe you think it would’ve had the same amount of failure. Is that how you wanna word it?

What are you trying to prove?

What is the basis YOU think it would have done better in 2017, all things equal?

I'm just looking at the ratio of domestic to Int'l numbers.

Thor Ragnarok got almost 2/3 of its box office outside of the USA.
Superman 2025 is getting well less than half. (42%)

Is it just Superhero fatigue?
Why not dinosaur fatigue for Jurassic World? That's even an older franchise and I think most would agree that 'Rebirth' isn't high art. I saw it and didn't even like it very much.

foreign box office was better for US films in general in 2017. All I did was come in here and say that it’s too bad that the foreign box office is as bad as it is. That’s all I was trying to say with my post. I don’t know who you’re arguing with. All I know is they’ve greenlit a bunch of movies going forward and they’re reporting that they’re happy. According to you, they’re not happy. And that’s OK. They may not be. But they’re sure investing a lot of money going forward.

It kind of sounds like you’re in here with an agenda to be honest.

It’s all cope, think about it this way, all the headlining DCU movies from a decade ago did better at the box office than this movie will do not even taking into account inflation which killed that franchise so this is a bad start for its reboot. No matter what the shills say if these movies don’t make enough they will fail. That is an unavoidable fact that some people refuse to acknowledge. Those of us pointing out the reasons why are simply saying that if you avoided these silly mistakes they wouldn’t fail but in their twisted minds they think we want the movies to fail. This is the inverse logic these guys operate from and it’s very strange. They’re actually cheering on failure.

Who? Cmon man, you’ve seen plenty of posters attacking any critique of this movie.

Jurassic world is widely considered the worst of the July “blockbuster” franchise movies yet it’s making more money than the others. This doesn’t jive with the “fatigue” narrative, the truth is Marvel has serious brand damage and Superman though fun had a ton of problems that caused hardcore fans not to go back and see it multiple times which usually gives a large boost to those types of movies.

Not 'arguing' just posting numbers.

2025

Jurassic World - Rebirth.

Domestic (41.4%)
$317,672,050
International (58.6%)
$449,211,000

Nothing wrong with the Int'l box office for dinosaurs. Huh.

*Furthermore, Superman is the new DCU's launching pad for a franchise reboot. Most were saying it needed to be a home run, while Gunn was claiming a ground rule double is fine. Just getting on base is acceptable. And that's what they did.

Oh, I know. This is a message board and things are gonna go back-and-forth. That’s fine. But you said people are cheering on failure. In no way is that true. You can think that this movie failed financially and that’s perfectly fine. But as of right now, it’s not being reported as a failure and they’re making more movies. And people who like the movie are excited about that. So that’s not cheering on failure. That’s what I was responding to.

The international numbers for superhero movies was better in 2017. Yes, or no?

I meant unknowingly, in their defense of any critique they are proclaiming the movie is perfect with the subtext. If there are no flaws with something it is perfect by definition.

You shouldn’t be so sensitive about that. You come on strong you get it back strong and that’s the way it is. I don’t care what peoples opinions are. It’s just an opinion. People who come on strong and say something bad about a movie that somebody else likes, that person may come and defend the movie. And that’s OK. The reverse can happen also. Why are you guys so sensitive?

Doesn’t change the fact that they’re cheering on failure. You can argue opinion of the movie but arguing or twisting box office to make excuses isn’t opinion.

Are you saying people wouldn’t rather this make more money? Who is saying that? Of course they wish it would make more.

You’re acting like people are saying this is the next Avengers. I have literally seen none of that. Where is it?

When did this happen? I posted that it passed Thor Ragnarok in domestic box office. Fact

Gave an opinion that it “may” have had a “chance” at a billion in 2017.

That’s all. The rest is filler you guys are putting in because you’re bitter.
