I agree that Cavil was perfect but Corenswet seems to be a great choice too. Listen to his interviews, he loves and cares about the role a lot. Said he’d forgo the rest of his career if it meant he could just play Superman. If this fails it will be on Gunn 100%.

I don't have a problem with the american way motto. I also acknowledge that the motto has not stayed the same TThroughoutSuperman's history. "The American Way" was an addition. The changes in the 60s and 70s were changes that no one here seems to be mad about. The new change is a callback to the 30s name for Superman. Being okay with a new change doesn't feel (since you're telling me how I feel) like anger.
It feels more like I'm not experiencing the knee-jerk anger that others in this thread have very clearly expressed.

You know what make a good movie. A story about Superman getting deported because he is an illegal alien, but then a threat shows up and they need superman to save them. Or make a Superman that grows up in the USSR. The movies suck because they try making them for "modern audiences". There is no such thing as the modern audience. You just destroy your movie by not giving the customers what they want.

“I mean, Superman is the story of America,” the Superman helmer told The Times U.K. in a new profile. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”
It's refreshing to see Hollywood take a break from molesting each other to lecture the rest of us about American values.
Has Gunn posted any creepy tweets about children lately?

Gotta say... I'd 100% go see that.

Yeah, that's pretty good

This is a new take on Superman and the campiness is a gamble whether some want to admit it or not. It could sell toys but cost them at the box office if people this the whole thing is just a mess. The trailers have progressively shown that there is a lot of new angles with this Superman.
A lot of people are waiting to hear the word of mouth reviews.

I'll give him that Superman was in immigrant in the sense that.. well... what with coming from another planet and all, he had not choice.... but there's just a tad bit of difference between ONE person coming here with the best of intentions... and hoards of people coming across the border, many, if not most, of whom don't have the best of intentions...

Let's not gloss over the fact that Kal El - unlike many today's immigrants - assimilated enthusiastically into American culture. He assumed an American name, Clark Kent. He adopted our western, Judeo-Christian culture. Finally, and most importantly, HE GOT A JOB.

He’s not an immigrant unless you can find a comparison of an immigrant’s planet exploding, forcing them here against their will and without their knowledge then not even knowing any of this until they were older. Don’t let these jerkoffs push this political BS.

Very true. Superman just might not be the best example of an immigrant if they care to look at all aspects of the situation.

A real reporter would have pressed him to name a single Western city that's improved thanks to mass third world immigration. London? Paris? NYC?
We’re not the world's soup kitchen and trying to equate a white dude with magical powers with a street shitter is peak ideological delusion. It's like crying "We're a nation of immigrants" while conveniently forgetting up until the 70s, 85% of America's immigrants hailed from Europe, not third world hellscapes.

It is about how we support immigrants and if you don't like it, you're not an American"
I hope that's not an accurate quote. Or at a bare minimum he qualified the statement to say Americans support law abiding people who immigrated legally.
If he said that then he's on safe ground
