My personal opinion is it’s nowhere near as good as the first one.

Everything felt rushed and shoehorned. From Yoshi to Starfox to the resolution.

And that Rosalina and Peach are such badasses doesn’t really jibe with the games.

I almost fell asleep.

All that said, my kids (9 and 6) loved it and I was tired. I thought it was entertaining in general and the fan service was enough to make me smile.

This was pretty much my experience as well. Kids (10 and 11) loved it. I thought it could have been better and felt like this should have been the 3rd or 4th installment, not the second.

They should have went the Sonic route and just introduced one character at a time. A Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi movie would have been just fine. They didn't need everything else.

Bowser was the best part again.

Yep. They cleared some rocks out of a pipe and found Yoshi.

Took the kids to watch it in 3D last night. It was fun, but like someone else said kind of hollow. The last one was great, this one was just good.

These are my thoughts also. Not enough bowser, and the story was just kinda boring. Yoshi gets incorporated too fast. But all the Easter eggs are fun. Rob the robot, the music from the old games reimagined - like the flying ship stages in Mario 3. That was awesome to hear in the movie

My children liked it a lot which is the sole reason I went to see it so that’s a win.

Starfox being in it was awesome I’ve been quoting all the stupid sayings from the video games since the movie and no one in my house has any idea wtf I’m talking about when I say “Can’t let you do that, Star Fox” or “Peppy! Long time no see”

Saw it in imax last week while on vacation. Kids loved it and I enjoyed a lot of it too, but let's be honest, it was a total cash grab. Execs said we gotta cash in while we can and we got this. This was not the masterpiece the first one was. Just a bunch of random ahit that kids would love and adults would find nostalgic.

It'll all be worth it though if we can get a Starfox spinoff movie out of it.

Brought my son (6) to see it todsy. He liked it a lot. I liked it well enough but it’s a far cry from how good the first one was.

But I did like the nods to Nintendo shite. The OG robot was great, for example. Also noticed a good amount of SMB2 references.

Took my two boys to see it yesterday. 7 and 12, so right in that prime video game playing stage. They liked it well enough, and the 3D parts were well done. Throwing in some 2 dimensional 8-bit animation in parts was nice for us older folks. Probably not worth paying theater prices to see, but we don't go to the movies that often, so when they both asked me if we could go see it I took them.
