I'll say this about the show. For me, it was never Breaking Bad or The Wire material. It's always been an 80's flashback, fun, make belive type series.

That's the way I've always seen it and this season didn't give a shite about particulars and went all out on fan service. That's why I loved it so much.

It's not only set in the 80s, it also has the 80s silliness and fun.

It doesn't only have 80s references, some of the scenes are filmed in 80s movie style. This season now more than ever. It felt very Terminator, The Thing, and it's always had a Goonies, buddy feel.

I felt like this season went all out with the fun, and I think that's why I enjoyed it as much as I did.

Yeah, I'm going to have to watch an easter egg video just so I can see all of the references. Nancy's clothes are definitely throwbacks to 80's movies (I think her striped shirt is an homage to the teacher in the Twilight Zone Movie), and she actually pulls off a Blues Brothers parallel parking job with the station wagon.

Elle's yellow shirt is driving me nuts though. I can't think of the movie it's from.

I'm not sure.

One reference I noticed that maybe not many did was The Gate (1987). A dumb 80s horror movie about a kid taking down hell. The fireworks part kinda reminded me of this scene.

ETA:The movie has a cult following though. I'm sure the Duffer Bros are very familiar with it.

Why were russians on US soil opening up the gateway? It was shallow and not well thought IMO.

They pretty clearly explained this in the show. Maybe you missed it while you were searching the background for your snowflake agenda.

I liked this season. But man the sexual innuendo was off the charts. And the language was too. And when you’re watching with a teenager that shite stands out.

This was also seemed a lot darker than previous seasons. And the Russian angle was a little silly. But I liked it. The monster was weird and not explained well at all. But it was creepy.

Best thing about this season is that each episode felt long as hell and felt like so much shite happened. And I feel like that is a sign of a solid show.

It was a little weird though that Dustin was so separated from the group the entire time. And making Robin a lesbian just felt stupid and not genuine to me.

Oh and the absolute worst thing about this season was Lucas’s little fricking sister. Not only was she overly vulgar, but she was just an annoying bitch the entire time. I have no idea who’s idea it was to give her more screen time and make her a major character, but they suck.

And is Billy still in high school? I hope not because all the moms fawning all over him is creepy as it is, but it’s a lot more creepy if he is still a high school student.

The Hopper and Joyce back and forth was a little much for me. It got to a point that it felt forced and they were both overacting a lot. Hopper actually came across like a cartoon character for me a lot of the season.

The more I think about things, the more things I will question I’m sure. But all in all, I thought this was a solid third entry to the series. And I enjoyed it more than I did S2.

Honestly, I think the only reason they moved was to have a UHaul product placement. Otherwise, it didn't seem to make much sense, especially if they're doing a 4th season.

Netflix has all but officially confirmed a 4th season.

And at the end of episode 8, Mike tells Eleven that he already got the "OK" from his parents for her and Will to come visit for Christmas. There are also approximately 18 months between seasons. 18 or so months from now puts us at December 2020, which is when the next season will likely be released.

The notion of Joyce and her kids moving out of Hawkins was actually put in place last season. Bob mentioned moving her and the kids to Maine so they could all start fresh. I imagine that's where they're moving.

I thought this season was fantastic. Max, Erica, and Alexi all were great. El reading the letter at the end really got me.

Never Ending Story is going to be stuck in my head for awhile

Yea, season 3 was much better than 2.

I disagree with the mayor to trump comparison by the poster on the first page. However there was an OBVIOUS character that was a representation of trump. And that was one of the guys at the newspaper. Dude looked just like a younger version of him with the features and skin tone and the negative representation of his demeanor. From his very first appearance and how he treated nancy, you knew she was going to end up having a part in killing him some way or another.

Hopper is definitely alive.

I also thought they had way too much vulgarity and sexualization of the characters for their age. Like in the "It" movie. Reminds me of that because of the actor crossover.

And I also got bored with the filler joyce/hopper dialogue/conflict. Used that for bathroom breaks, getting more beer, etc

I thought episode one was the second worst of the entire series after the spin off episode. It had bad humor and an excessive amount of bad CGI. I worried it was a sign of the season to come but it rebounded nicely. On episode 6 right now and I'm hooked. I got a Lost hatch vibe with the Russians.

I commented about the obvious political digs, but wasn’t bothered by them. Definitely unanswered questions about the Russians, rats, chemicals, upside-down. But, it was fun, poignant at times and entertaining. I enjoyed Hopper’s parenting, and found him endearing. I thought Mike was a disrespectful douche, and Max was probably my least favorite character. I was actually half expecting a Max/El hookup. Great season, all said and done.

I’m halfway through s3 and while it’s pretty good, it doesn’t come close to the mystery and charm of the first season

If you know Russian, when the officer is talking to Robin (Maya Hawke) he is calling her Bitxh twice and it is not translated.

Theres also a ton of "conservatives bad" undertones. Maybe they should have focused less on a subconscious political messaging and more on writing a good season.

I don’t know. Erica was a hardcore capitalist. And she was a solid character. But this season does blow.

That's what disturbs you?

Not that Gary Busey has perfected body surfing and is inhabiting his son?

The Mindflayer uses biology to make weapons. The chemicals were used to make people and rats suitable building material along with parts of itself.

I think Hopper is alive also. 11 conveniently doesn’t have her super powers working so she can’t see him. She will get them back at some point and they’ll have to save his arse.

I thought this was pretty lazy writing. They obviously didn't know how to handle her going forward given that she's destroyed any monster she comes into contact with, so they simply disabled her abilities so they could do something different without any real explanation.

She'll obviously get them back at some point, but that's the problem. The writers are now treating El's abilities like a light switch they can turn on or off. It makes no sense, but affords them the convenience of not having to get too creative.
