Disappointed to see they are continuing with the Hawkins storyline. This series is perfect for transitioning to new storylines every season. Oh well.

Finished it. Loved it, probably as much as Season 1, but for different reasons.

They gave so many characters decent arcs. There's a ton of care given to all of the characters from dialog to actions. I find it rare in this show that I'm saying, "No, don't do that. That's stupid." Characters have agency to act like people, rather than like characters serving plots and making decisions to only get the story to a specific point.

The strength of this show is often how they interact and how their actions unfold with the action, rather than in service to it.

Just really well done all around.

I enjoyed it well enough.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't care how much time was dedicated to romantic relationships... especially the Nancy-Johnathon one.

I mean, I get it. It adds depth to the characters, especially the awkward middle schoolers, but I felt like there was just a bit too much it for a show like Stranger Things.

Do they elaborate as to how the little shop of horror type beasts were created/came to be?

I thought Max and Billy would end up a bigger part of the story, particularly as to why they ended up in Hawkins, which was teased early on but never fleshed out. Maybe it will be a part of S3.

I agree there is a reason. Billy's dad clearly has anger issues and there is more to that story coming, I think it will be a turning point for Billy to change much like Steve did. I also think El's sister with her ability will play a role in season 3, but I also see her character dying in some fashion. Remember they hinted in standalone Brenner was still alive when they went to Hawkins employee's house who tortured them when they were kids.

The standalone was a setup for Season 3. It seems fish out of water for Season 2, but will be the episode I watch before season 3 begins.

That would have been extremely random for them to completely end the Hawkins storyline. It wouldn't make any sense.

I finished this morning. A few tidbits:

The development of characters like Steve is what sets this show apart from many others imo.Would have been so easy (and lazy) to make him one-note douche boyfriend, but they refused.

I really liked Sean Astin's character. Had a feeling he'd die a hero, but I thought he integrated well.

This season was much funnier than last. Dustin was the real mvp.

I don't really see what Max and Billy added to the series. They were the Poochie of this season for me.

Mrs.Wheeler is fine as hell.

Mr. Wheeler as cliche baby boomer 80s dad is one of the more underrated parts of the show for me.

Eleven is such a badass.

Nancy is bae.

Give me a Dustin/Steve spinoff pls.

Looking at about 4/5 seasons tops.
They need to get filming before these kids grow up.

Keep in mind, this is the 80's people weren't as mobile and didn't leave their towns that much, it's why it should stay in Hawkins for entire run.

Season 2 is just as good as season 1 and for once I think Netflix might be able to finish a show out right.

I don't think they have to rush it that fast. Granted I get what you are saying.

At the end of this season it's the winter of '84 and the gang is in 7th or 8th grade?

Steve,Nancy & Smokey McSmoker are in their junior year?

All together, I think they've set themselves up nicely with this second installment.

Completely ditching the Hawkins,IN storyline would have been an irreversible mistake for this series.

They get a lot of details right to me. Small moments, small characters, but this one is tops. Mr. Wheeler is kind of a great character for those few small moments he gets on screen.

finished last night. i'd put it on par season 1, if a notch below.

i was feeling for Bob. the second he left his gun, i knew he was dead.

i was happy to see Paul Reiser A) back in a show B) not be the typical, evil government dick C) live at the end.

The only real flaw I saw was when Hooper was in the cave he started out holding a stainless S&W revolver, then he was holding a Colt Python, then a S&W.

But otherwise very good. They even got the junkyard right with vehicles that would have been junked in 1984.

I really enjoyed both seasons of this show. Honestly, I never saw the point in introducing the Max and Billy characters. They didn't really move the plot along at all, and were pretty uninteresting in general. Maybe they are supposed to do something in Season 3, but I feel like the show just needed an extra hour of runtime so they threw two useless characters in there.

Billy helped Steve show some of that growth you're talking about. Max gave something for Lucas to do which was nice. Last year Lucas was the guy that was just pissed at his friends the whole time. She also lead to the funny mentor/mentee interactions between Dustin and Steve. Dustin and Steve walking down the train tracks talking about girls was great.

I also agree with others that said it felt like there was a lot more to Billy and Max's back story than we ended up being told. They'll either reveal this in season 3 or they way over played Billy. Him hitting on Mike's mom was hilarious though. They should do more of that and less of Roid Rage Billy.

Something that hasn't been mentioned much is how good of an acting job the kid that plays Will did. He really conveyed the fear and creepiness well.
