I know there’s a season 4 thread but please don’t spoil any of that for me..
That said, I’m on season 2 episode 2, and this show is awesome. I love historical epics like this and I’m ashamed I’m late to the game.
I was in England in early March, made a visit to Somerset where most of season 1 takes place, and it just makes it that much cooler that I was in the area of these events that took place 1200 yrs ago. I’ve been bouncing over to Wikipedia to read about this time period every chance I get it’s fascinating. It’s crazy how nearly 400 yrs passed between this and Braveheart yet hardly little technological advances took place, it was truly the dark ages.
The acting is top notch, the music and scenery is as well. Uhtred is a badass and beds all the hot chicks in England, unfortunately it seems he always has bad luck with those he loves. Love how they cast majority Scandinavians for the Danes. There are some badass actors/actresses playing these characters.
Can’t wait to binge the remaining seasons. If you haven’t watched this show you need to start. If you love medieval sword epics based on history like me this is your show.

In the books it consistently points out that every advanced piece of architecture was from the romans centuries before and how they devolved in that time. It’s crazy to think about

You should check out the books by Bernard Cornwell.

But so was that time period. All they did was fight the Danish to try to unite the kingdoms into England. The history was wash rinse repeat.

Yeah I always get but also chuckle at the complaint “its just Uhtred fighting the new Viking boss”....well that’s what happened in history Obviously Uhtred is a plot device but the vast majority if not all of the major battles are historical fact.

Some of the best acting I have seen was David Dawson playing Alfred in this show.
