Eventually Kennedy will move on and y'all can claim that you got her.

This China issue shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Star Wars in China was basically an unknown before TFA. It did ok. TLJ didn't. I figured the numbers would decline drastically with another release.

They keep revising the China numbers down. I think the latest forecast I saw on boxoffice.com was $12.2 million in that particular market. A lot of the "gurus" on that website continue to track TROS further and further down. It might not break $180 million this weekend in the United States after its piss poor performance on Saturday.

Both...I'm just really interested in the box office right now, especially for week 1 of the film.

@metaplexmovies

Disney should have given the filmmakers more time to make #TheRiseOfSkywalker a fitting, resonant end fo the Saga. SKYWALKER had 8 months less than THE LAST JEDI to be written and 6 fewer months in post-production. No matter what you think of the movie, this wasn't enough time.

I don't really know what they could have done with more time. I see no one complaining about the visuals or the technical aspects of the film. The story was always going to be messy because of how things went down in TLJ. Carrie Fisher's untimely death also didn't help matters.

I liked it, but it's obvious the movie was rushed. Some more time would've been beneficial, IMO.

I had the privilege of attending the Academy screening of #TheRiseOfSkywalker today and J.J. confirmed that what Finn wanted to tell Rey was that he’s force sensitive!

According to industry estimates Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker had a steeper Saturday than expected with $48M, -47% from Friday (+ previews)’s figure of $90.2M which now puts the ninth-quel’s opening weekend at around $179M+, $14.7M lower than what industry sources were seeing yesterday morning.

$179 million opening weekend. In contrast, early projections about a month or two out had this thing easily making $200+ million opening weekend.

Deadline is really sucking at predictions. Mid day yesterday, they had it at 193 mil.

I don't think anyone saw the steep Saturday drop coming. My guess is this thing finishes around $175-177 million for the weekend.

Also...another article claiming inside knowledge that the Disney higher ups want Kathleen Kennedy gone:

quote:

Sources close to WGTC – the same ones who said [SPOILERS] would die in The Rise of Skywalker and that [SPOILERS] would be revealed as a traitor, both of which were true – have told us that Disney wants Kathleen Kennedy gone from Lucasfilm and while it’s not set in stone just yet that she’s on her way out the door, from what we’ve been told, there’s a “95% chance” she won’t be with the company for much longer.

As for who would replace her, that remains unclear, but from what we’ve heard, it could be another woman so that the studio isn’t accused of mistreating women in power. But again, we weren’t given any names in regards to who may be stepping in once Kennedy is gone. Seeing as this intel comes to us from the same sources who also told us Rey is Palpatine’s [SPOILERS] though, which also turned out to be true, we have no reason to doubt it.

LINK

Bob Iger reportedly wanted her gone in 2018 after the disappointing box office returns of The Last Jedi and Solo, but no one wanted to take her place. That might change now that the sequel trilogy is over and done with.

So I take it you're not a fan of star wars lore or the continuous storyline created in star wars?

So the story doesnt need to make sense or be coherent for you to like it right? Even if the story is completely different then you can still like the movie?
