It's Disney, that's not unexpected. It was always my fear when they took over.

I disagree 100%. This is the Skywalker saga, it needs to be about the Skywalkers. As much as people want to say that means Kylo, it doesn’t.

so what's gonna happen once we reach Star Wars 15? Luke's great great grandchildren battling Palpatine's ex wife's sons's ghost?

If they were going to bring Palpatine back, it should’ve just been the reveal is that snoke was palpatine after what he went through with Vader

So basically Rey is going to retcon what Anakin did when he destroyed the emperor.

This would be my main gripe, Anakin is the chosen one. Maybe Luke and Anakin found a way to reincarnate Anakin in physical form because they felt the disturbance of Sheev still being alive. Knowing that in order to finally destroy him, Anakin’s force essence needs to be at its full potential. As it was before he was corrupted and had his powers diminished on Mustafar. It would explain why we haven’t had any force ghost versions of Anakin in the new trilogy. And Sheev certainly knew enough about Vader to trick Kylo into believing it was Vader guiding him.

Everyone will be super into all the awesome new characters they've introduced.

Like Finn, and Poe, and Rose, you know, those super popular new characters everyone loves so much, they'll carry on the Star Wars brand to new glory...

It looked like they were looking at remnants of the death star in the scene at the end right before his laugh began.

I bet the emperor is still in the Death Star II.

And right as Luke says "No one is ever really gone".

Makes me think the final fight will be between Rey and Kylo while force ghost Luke and Palpatine are in the room like angels and devils on their shoulders.

if you can't write new characters that stand on their own and you need to rely on connections to past characters as a crutch, you need a new writer.

That’s the thing about Star Wars. What we see on the big screen is only a sliver of the whole story. For example, Darth Sidous becoming the Emperor was only the culmination of a plot hatched by a Sith Lord named Darth Bane to overthrow the Republic and destroy the Jedi that spanned almost a thousand years before the time of Episode I. And even before Bane, the Star Wars story goes back several thousands years earlier.

Nobody thinks it will flop like Solo did, it performing below expectations is a definite possibility though.

That's why they are pretty much going to make it a fan-service orgy.

thats part of my point. you have this insanely expansive extended universe to draw from. not everything has to be connected to the skywalkers. jump back and forth in the timeline and explore some of these interesting concepts.

You must have absolutely hated the part where Luke lifted an X-Wing with his mind in the Original Trilogy.

Um, wasn't it Yoda that did that? Luke failed and pouted. Am I forgetting another part where he does this?

No. Anakin brought balance to the force. Luke was rebuilding the jedi order.

Luke could have been a distant figure in later star wars movies as a figurehead at a newly rebuilt jedi temple.

That's where the newest trilogy should have really gone. Eventually Luke would pass and be one with the force and the Skywalker line is gone.

Not really that difficult. But instead the ST made it seem like everything that happened over 6 movies was completely useless and the universe was exactly like it had always been even before Anakin.

I think that's why Disney was in such a rush to kill off and throw away all the old characters. They knew as long as Star Wars was: Luke, Han, Leia, and Darth Vader that they couldn't churn out new SW films.

But people do not want them to go away, I don't think you CAN replace them, even with greatest writers int he world.

The hardcore SW fans have a family like emotional attachment to those characters. Most people wouldn't trade their brother or sister for a new brother or sister, even if that new one was a great guy.
