Finally just watched the trailer.

It's a great teaser. The desert tie fighter sequence is awesome. Some of you baws need to take a step back from your nostalgia and crawl out of this butthurt echo chamber.

You guys liked the last JJ movie, for whatever reason. This looks like more of the same.

OK, I'll bite. What was so awesome about the desert TIE fighter sequence?

JJ stinks too. He made Han Solo into a pathetic old man wishing he was still in his college glory days

Visually it looks cool. Sure. CGI is great.

But why is she just standing in a desert backwards waiting on a tie fighter to attack her from behind?

Why is she deciding to hand to hand combat a fighter jet?

Why isn't the tie fighter shooting at her?

Why is the tie fighter flying low enough for her to hit it?

What has she ever done to have the skill and confidence to take an advanced fighter jet on in hand to hand combat?

Etc....

Until Rey jumps, it actually takes the time to build some tension, a surprise from such a usually crummy filmmaker. I'm not saying this will be a good movie; I'm saying it's a good teaser trailer.

If this sucks, though, it won't be because of Rian and your feelings. It will suck because JJ sucks, and you know he's just pulling greats hits junk from the earlier trilogy

This is a stupid point to make in the Star Wars universe.

Agreed. The fighting in the original star wars movies usually looked and felt like actual fights. It was sorta clumsy and chaotic looking usually.

The prequels unfortunately started the over the top highly choreographed cartoony anime battles, where 90% of the fight is just posing and cool moves for the sake of looking cool.

The duel between obi-wan and Anakin in EP 3 should have been intense but was completely overshadowed by the utter ridiculousness of them playing crouching tiger in a lava pit.

Contrast it with the intensity of the one in Empire or even the one ep1 (the only great part in that entire turd).

My biggest take away. They could be training together in some ridiculous way?

Also, Artoo is missing.

I could see that route happening, but it would be dumb to just repeat the entire OT.

Rey is Anakin
Kylo is basically Vader

So what, Anakin reincarnated as Rey (light) faces his own dark side which is represented by Kylo (dark)?

Kylo came to the dark similar to Anakin.

The final balance of the force is for Anakin to balance himself?

I want to add more evidence to the Rey = Anakin, Kylo = Vader theory.

Rey and Kylo's "telepathic" connection and how they can communicate through it.

Reminds me of the Harry Potter and Voldemort connection. We eventually found out Harry could feel Voldemort because Voldemort was actually apart of him as a piece of his soul latched on to Harry.

Also, anyone think Rey kind of looks like a younger Shmi Skywalker?

Prequel apologists do this often

Which is dumb.

Darth Vader is a key character in the Skywalker Saga but he is not THE key character. That has always been Luke Skywalker, which is why I was so pissed off with how he was portrayed in The Last Jedi.

JJ Abrams set this whole thing up by not making Luke the central character of The Force Awakens. He tried to give Luke more screentime in earlier drafts but always became frustrated when Luke began to take center stage in the story.

Newsflash you stupid hack! That probably means making Luke the main protagonist of The Force Awakens is the best idea for your new movie. You can introduce characters like Rey, Poe, and Finn in the film and have them slowly take over as the "new generation" as the story progresses.

I will never forgive Abrams for failing to give Mark, Harrison, and Carrie just one scene together in The Force Awakens. With Fisher now dead, that'll never happen.

All of these exact thoughts rolled through my head.

The shite thing is, if not for the vomit sandwich that is TLJ, I don't think I would have had any of those thoughts.

Rian Johnson has made a hater of me. frick that guy.

Episode 8 ruined Star Wars for me.

It did not ruin it, the OT is still awesome and even the Solo movie was good. The prequels was significantly better than this latest. But SW is now a vehicle for modern political beliefs. As a 47 year old man, I am no longer their chosen audience.

The original was about mysticism and major themes of good versus evil. They where epic characters struggling with themes of family and evil.

Start SW movie with a Verizon can you hear me joke, no thanks, I am out. I will go watch the MCU if I want to see that type of movie, those are better stories.

Because Disney wanted to take star wars in a "new" direction and tried to duplicate the style of guardians of the galaxy.

I stopped reading the comments on page 8 so sorry if someone has already treaded this subject. I GUARANTEE this is the end plot...

The ending scene is Mortis. Sidious is the father. Rey is the daughter. Kylo is the Son. Anakin somehow reincarnates and much like the Altar of Mortis episode must restore the balance. EXACT SAME STORYLINE.

I agree and star wars was never a story like that of the MCU.

That's actually cool. I loved that episode of the clone wars.

Does that mean Hayden Christensen is back?
