I don't think we saw the same movie. I'm not sure we even live in the same Universe. The Last Jedi was excellent, unexpected, and forged an entirely new path for the franchise in a good way. Ya'll bitched because the prequals were trash (they were). Ya'll bitched because Force Awakens was too similar to A New Hope. Ya'll bitched because the Force Awakens didn't give enough back story. Ya'll bitched because Rogue One had too much fan service (despite being an awesome film). Now, ya'll are bitching because they gave you something new, gave you tons of back story, and took the franchise somewhere new, and you STILL hated it!? Ya'll are worse than the rant after a win.
Dilly Dilly! This guy gets it. I don’t even know where these miserable people come from.

I ended up leaving happy but the first part of the movie truly felt like a Star Wars parody. The Poe/Hux exchange, Leia pulling herself back into the ship, Luke throwing the saber over his shoulder. The entire casino sequence was horrendous, could have been straight out of the prequels.
That said, I think it was starting with the scene where Rey reaches towards the 'mirror' that things really locked in for me, and I was thoroughly entertained all the way through the end (with the exception of Finn). Looking forward to rewatching it with a better knowledge of the films pace to see if that changes anything.

I dont understand how they didnt kill leia off. That space float scene was laughably bad. Im more pissed at legit critics that hyped this movie up.

I’m not disappointed in them doing it, im more disappointed in them not expanding on it and having her actively using the force.

Also, Snoke is legit awful.

My basic understanding is that older, more conservative folks will dislike it while younger more aggressive tastes will love it.

If you’re satisfied with Snoke and Rey’s throw away backstories then you’re a gullible fool. That was pure garbage.

If Yoda can return, why the hell isn't Anakin appearing to Kylo to knock some sense into him? I can't believe all of the positive reviews after the premiere. The majority that I've seen today have all been negative.

I didn't bitch about TFA or Rogue 1. And btw both of those movies are better than Last Jedi.

For me it did the 3 things a MOVIE needs to be good
Great acting
Emotional pull
Audience investment

So just got out, and yeah, big change from what I was expecting. Mark Hamill returns triumphantly as Luke Skywalker. Daisy Ridley is great again, and she’s definitely going to be a star. And I still haven’t seen Girls, so Adam Driver was still enticing in the role and I’m interested to see where they take the character.
And the twists were great. Definitely didn’t see Snoke dying at this stage coming. And when Luke was facing off against the First Order was the shite.
But the movie was a bit too long, and try to follow me here, but I have an ingenious solution on how to shorten it: REMOVE ALL SCENES CONTAINING FINN, ROSE, AND BB-8! They were just awful pure filler that had nothing to do with the plot. It wasn’t cute or funny. It was just annoying when all I wanted to do was get back to Rey, Luke, and Kylo. Reminds me of the whiplash effect the gargoyles from Hunchback had on an otherwise masterful film. Can’t wait to see the Non-Finn cut of this movie.

25 here and thought it was trash. Heck I at least thought the TFA was good.

Yeah, that was ridiculous.

The vast majority loved TFA. Only a brain dead moron could dislike it.
I do at least get why some people will dislike this. They aren’t objectively wrong this time.

I didn't like the first half of Rogue One but as a whole it was a good film. This on the other hand. Also, how the hell did the First Order have so much money to be so dominant in secret while the Resistance is nothing but the remaining members on the Falcon?

TFA and Rogue One were infinitely better.
They actually felt like real Star Wars movies.
This...I don't know what this was.

The senate funded the First Order. For a while they had a seat.

Emotional pull
It has its moments but there are just as many missed opportunities.
Example: when R2 plays the tape of Leia from ANH, they speed up the playback. There was no need to do that. Let the scene you're in breathe a little without being in such a rush to get to the next one. As it was it still had some emotional weight to it but not as much as it could have.
