I was ready to defend this movie to the last breath
But I just got out and I am so defeated. I had tempered my expectations and I was still let down. Badly.

Did you pay attention to The Force Awakens when Kylo stopped the shot? Why couldn’t Luke do that a thousand fold, and as soon as they stop firing, send them back their way destroying them all? It’s practical, makes sense, and isn’t childish. That would have been amazing for Luke to stop an army singlehandedly by just doing something that simple.

Snoke...zero back story. How did he even get to Ben Solo?? Why was Ben turning to the dark?? Anakin had a good reason at least.
Luke was totally out of character with the way he goes out. Why would he not face Snoke? He fearlessly faced Vader and Sideous.
Whats the goal of the first order? How did Snoke become their leader and why do they need to be resisted?
Damn what they did to Poe's character was just stupid bad. I honestly have no desire to see the third installment. What is left to resolve? We know if the first order is destroyed just like the Empire, a new band of super armed space Nazis will take their place

Its a huge gut punch. After all the critics came out and said this movie was so awesome, i got so hyped up only to be so let down. I never want to feel that feeling of walking out of that theater being so disappointed again. Its a terrible feeling

Would’ve been amazing. It’s kind of like how we finally got to see Vader wreck shite like we knew he was capable of in Rogue One. Instead of doing something like that with Luke they turned him into a pussy.

That’s good cinema. Which is unleashing Luke. And doing this and draining him I understand. Killing him off? Give me a break. They wanted to purge the fans and give it over to the kids. That’s fine too...Ridley already said she was done after 9. Way to piss on all of us and shite on the canon. frick Force Ghosts. My hate for that and Alec Guinness is already marked in this thread. It’s sloppy story telling.

For the love of God someone tell me why Finn is still a character. So disappointed with the direction they’ve taken him. Could’ve been a great character. Maybe a grizzled vet disillusioned with the Order who could help lead the resistance but instead we got the janitor who is always trying to run away but also happens to know the secret weakness to every First Order ship or base because he mopped the floors and took out the trash there once. Then he settles for the chunky Asian chick because he’s got no shot with the hot chick, even though he’s got the most screen time in the movies of any character not named Rey.

Yeah, midway through I just couldn’t help but think to myself “this movie has a 95%, so why do I hate it so much?” I was thrilled every time Rey and Kylo Ren showed up, but my spirits would immediately damper as soon as they went anywhere else.
This should have been so streamlined between them. I had no doubt that’s where the sequel was going to be after TFA. They set up their connection as the primary aspect for the sequel, and while that was the most interesting part of it, it was less than half of the movie.
