So it was a setup movie. Why did we have TFA again?

TFA gets us up to speed on the state of the galaxy. It introduces tons of new characters. It starts handing the torch over to a new generation. It rekindles all of the old thoughts, feelings, and patterns of the original trilogy.

The Last Jedi tears them all down. It did for Star Wars what Season 1, Episode 9 of Game of Thrones did for the fantasy genre. It takes everything you know and turns it on its head.

That's pretty much exactly what Empire did. It's not a setup. It's a transition.

Was Holdo already on the Resistance ship or did she meet up with their vessel after Leia got hurt? If so, where the hell was she in TFA? Is Poe now in charge?

I will say that I liked both Chewie and Leia busting down doors.

The difference is 1x09 of Game of Thrones was earned and was also the beginning of a very large and very complex story. The Last Jedi is the penultimate chapter of the final trilogy in the Star Wars Saga.

Most of which are irrelevant. Finn and Poe could have been good supporting characters in the story but they serve no purpose.

You're just hoping this is true at this point. Nothing we've seen actually supports this theory.

saw it in Covington. Really low screen tone. Would like to see it on a different screen but Im not spending another 10 bucks

I thought I was the only one. Regal? The sound effects were loud but I could barely hear the dialogue over the smacking of the audience.

Maybe he was confused and wandered into a different movie.

She transferred to their vessel after Leah was hurt. She was the second in command on another ship whose captain also died. It was tantamount to the Designated Survivor situation.

She was probably just not important enough to be featured in TFA.

He's clearly Leah's right hand man, now.

This movie is just so frustrating because the pieces are there, but then they throw over a massive pile of shite on top of it.

Cs' version of the movie is what it should have been. Would have been the next Empire, but different: LINK

I’m almost certain that Holdo was an admiral and also the hero of an unseen battle. Poe brings this up when she is first introduced.

She was a Vice-Admiral.

So how is an admiral the second-in-command of a ship, especially when said admiral commanded a fleet to victory in a previous battle?

I thought it was strange too, but they mentioned she was serving under someone else on some other ship when they introduced her. It's possible I'm wrong. I'll have to watch it again to confirm. I may have just misheard it.

The only problem with this movie is that they had to give Finn something to do and his C plot hurt the movie because everything else was so amazing.

Whenever he and Rose were on screen, especially on the casino planet, everyone watching the movie wanted the scene to be over to get back to the great stuff.

Few will say it due to political correctness, but the Rose character is terrible and the actress was terrible. She was annoying and shoe horned in.

I thought this movie was fantastic and maybe the best SW ever made but it worries me that the only part of this movie that wasn’t fantastic was some shoe horned diversity.

She was written in for the sole purpose of having another woman in charge of something. She serves literally no other purpose.

The character is fleshed out in a recent book about Leia from what I understand. Leia and the character have known each other since they were teenagers. Their goodbye was kind of an Easter egg for book readers as they didn’t establish it in the movie.

Yeah, but then it produces such reviews as this: Don't click, just citing my source

quote:

Hope for generational change, the power of any single, small, nameless dreamer, who may yet know a world not manipulated by the gunrunners, the moneychangers, the venal and power-mad. The sky is filled with more stars than we know.

Yeah, because gunrunners and moneychangers is what I want to see in a Star Wars film. That's the point. This is a negative on the likes of the Gargoyles from Hunchback.

For politically correct reasons.

No, Kylo Ren, as good as all of his scenes were, was largely wasted. In the Second Act, he only appears in Rey's connections. It was cliffhanger that we were going to see his training.... but Johnson said, "frick that. Let I as a rich male spend $70 million dollars wasting time telling people how evil rich people and the patriarchy are."

And why did they write it? Because of people like us who will see through the bullshite, and they in turn can call us sexists for daring to call them out on it. Setting it up through something only maybe 30,000 fans will read is total shite.

I don't really have a problem with that. I've been hoping for a stand-alone movie or future trilogy based around the events from the KOTOR games.
