Scott Mendelson from Forbes I will never take any of his movie reviews seriously again. He’s probably written at least 2 articles a week defending it. If it’s not a movie review, it’s him defending TLJ and calling everyone who hated it bigoted trolls: LINK
I would love to talk to this retard, but only after he wipes Mickey Mouse’s cum from his chin.
Maybe because Age of Ultron was a mediocre movie, while in the meantime Marvel built up plenty of good will with Ragnarok, Guardians 2, Spider-Man Homecoming, Civil War, and Black Panther. Also Kevin Fiege and Joss Whedon weren’t condescending douchebags to the fans who didn’t like Age of Ultron, heard our complaints, and addressed them, and then made better movies.
If you consider TLJ the 2nd Act, then it butchered both the 1st and 3rd Acts already with me not having a clue where things stand and giving a frick you to everything that came before, then don’t be surprised when you shine a light in the audience the only people left are hobos beating off.
He’s so fricking clueless. I don’t know what is going to happen in IW Part II either, but I’m excited. I know exactly where the Marvel Universe stands: Thanos wipes out half the universe and they need to somehow get the Infinity Gauntlet back from him to reverse everything. Simple. As far as I’m concerned the First Order and the Resistance basically wiped each other out. Why do I care anymore? Everyone I care about is dead or turned into a Mary Sue.
Yeah, Sonic the Hedgehog and yet another Terminator movie that is sure to suck should be big threats to Star Wars. The fact that Jumanji is now seen as a threat to Star Wars is fricking embarrassing, and you can bet your arse Disney is not going to let Frozen cannibalize Star Wars. I love how he already has his excuse in order for when Episode IX bombs. Blame Sonic! What a hack. I guarantee he writes yet another article defending this piece of crap by the end of the week.

a bunch of trolls have gamed the Internet by announcing their intentions to, uh, remake The Last Jedi in a way that pleases them. I wouldn't pay these folks much mind, as A) you can safely ignore folks, and B) blogging about them, even in jest, gives them the media credibility they so desire. But for the record, Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi is arguably the best Star Wars movie since The Empire Strikes Back.

The good news/bad news for Solo regarding the Star Wars franchise is that it bombed because audiences didn't want to see it, not because they were appalled by The Last Jedi or because they are now boycotting Star Wars.

Everyone obsessed about "superhero fatigue" in the summer of 2015 when Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron "only" earned $1.405b worldwide. Three years later, Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War just crossed $2b worldwide.

Moreover, whatever demographics will stay home due to their dissatisfaction with The Last Jedi will be countered by folks who show up because it's the third and final chapter in this new trilogy.

It would be like like dedicated MCU fans staying home from Avengers 4 because they didn't like Avengers: Infinity War or Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The biggest "threat" to Star Wars 9's final global gross isn't Star Wars fatigue, fan backlash or any other potentially non-existent variables. It'll be the sheer amount of big movies opening in November and December of 2019. November alone will see Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.'s Wonder Woman 1984, Paramount/Viacom Inc.'s Sonic the Hedgehog, Annapurna's James Bond 25, Paramount's Terminator reboot and Walt Disney's Frozen 2. And then December will have Walt Disney's Star Wars 9, Fox's Death on the Nile, Universal's Wicked and Sony's Jumanji 3 all likely/possibly opening on or around Episode 9's Dec. 20 release.

What did you enjoy about it?

I was just about to say, since when is Star Wars threatened by movies like Sonic the Hedgehog?! Star Wars should be king, rivaled only by the MCU.

I agree that these scenes were largely good and one of the few things I wouldn’t reshoot. So here’s my question: why wasn’t this 80% of the movie, with both Rey and Kylo being trained by their mentors and being frustrated with them?
I just thought of a way on how to fix TLJ if by some chance in hell its remade. Instead of hyperspace tracking, what if Hux deliberately allows the Rebels to destroy the Dreadnaught so he could put a small tracking device on the Resistance’s head ship, and that’s how they track them. We know this exists thanks to Obi Wan tracking down Jango Fett in Episode II, and makes Hux much more calculating, intimidating, and ruthless for knowingly let his soldiers be brutally murdered to take out the Resistance.
And then have the probe short circuit the Hyperdrive, and the only reason they don’t destroy the Resistance is to lure Luke and Rey to them. They take out the Fighter bay just in the same way as they did in the original, and Leia dies there. That completely corrects the OJ Simpson chase scene. Make this only 20% of the film, and focus on Rey and Kylo Ren for the rest of it.

Or, the Empire figured out how to hack into the same homing beacon Leah had so that Ray would be able to find the fleet.

Maybe, but I like the thought of Hux being ruthlessly devious, deliberately letting people get killed to allow them to destroy the Resistance and lure Luke and Rey into a death trap. I don't understand why Snoke is congratulating Hux towards the beginning of the movie for using a device Snoke should not only know about, but should install regardless of the costs on every Star Destroyer. If anything he should be torturing Hux for not installing this in every Star Destroyer. It solves half the problems with the plot if Hux places a tracker on the Resistance Ship and sabotages the hyperdrive.

Agreed. I like the idea of disabling the hyperdrive.

"Star Wars Ep 9 didn't tank for any reason other than the terrible December release date"
I can see it now

You should try reading something sometime. It's useful...

Cinemablend has been toeing the Disney line on Solo. They repeat the talking points verbatim.
Just read the article on "Why Solo failed"
They leave off a big one. . .I'll let you guess which.

That's nice. They're spot on. It isn't just them either. Really anyone who hasn't spent every day since TLJ was released whining about it can see the whole picture...
