Looks like the cast aboard the USS Enterprise on Star Trek: Discovery will be spinning off to get their own show. Pike, Spock, and Number One will be gearing up and no doubt we'll run into James T. Kirk sometime in the near future.

Gonna be good, Anson does a great job as Pike.

Pike’s Enterprise is the best Star Trek since Next Gen. People are going to miss out on this because of the lamest preconceptions and biases.

or maybe I'll skip it because Discovery was awful

CBS’ creative television studio needs to be bought out and everyone involved with it subsequently fired.

If they keep it true to TOS with the types of stories, it might not be bad. Still, it would be far better were they to use new characters instead of replaying and replacing established ones.
Tying Michael to Spock and his family and then bringing Pike in... to me that's just lazy writing.

When TOS first aired, they could put the cast in a room with minimal props and almost no FX and bang out an outstanding episode like "The Empath" and when you actually gave them a little money for FX and you get masterpiece's like "Balance of Terror" or "The Doomsday Machine". This group of writers with more money than then no what to do with thinks over the top FX with a splash of story with obligatory LGBT scenes and girl-power is the recipe to success.
They could learn so much if they would look at all of the TNG, TOS and DS9 episodes that had very little FX that also used a minimum number of actors to see what great writing is all about and build off of it.

What?!?!? DS9 is the best series in the franchise.

Still a Star Trek show created by people who don’t like or understand Star Trek

Good. Been waiting for a more modern Star Trek. The old shite is boring.

Not sure why you're being downvoted because you're right. He did a great job as Pike.

I'm sure most of the down votes about Pike are from those who didn't even finish Discovery season 1. Pike was a great character in season 2. He was even great in the couple of Short Treks his character was in.

I've watch all of Discovery and Picard and like the "WHO" song: "Won't Get Fooled Again"
I'll make a challenge to you or any JJ Trek fan..Pick one episode from the first season Discovery and Picard and I'll challenge us old school fans to pick one episode from TOS, TNG or DS9 and tell why it's better than the series you aren't fond of or perhaps not a fan of.
I pick only the first season because TOS had no source material and started from scratch while everything else has decades of material and theoretically should have an easier time.
Bring it.

Or from those that view Jeffery Hunter as Pike. It would be one thing if Discovery was any good but it was God awful, the worst of all possible worlds. An absolutely terrible and stupid story. Talk about lazy writing, the plot of some super AI coming to destroy the universe is about as played out as it can get and they did it In 2 series
As if that's not bad enough it sets out to shite on the old franchise, because that's apparently what the cool kids do these days, right Rian Johnson? and of course it has to be super duper woke. Just total and complete crap.

Your point is that if a series doesn’t have a better episode than City on the Edge of Forever, it’s crap?
