was the plan then or thenabouts not to overtake the guards and rush the control room to stop the games? Or only when the vote failed, and they had to have a night to rest on a revote, was this decided?

The plan to attack the guards wasn't until after the bathroom fight where they realized they could kill the other players with no consequences.

The guards gave them all a fork with their food that same day. It was likely a fight was going to break out now that the Xs had the advantage.

Also, I"m guessing that other reveals will be the police chief/captain also are involved.

Police chief I don't feel like is relevant at all. It's clear the boat captain is involved somehow, though.

When the new lead man who’s doing the organ harvesting pulls 11 to talk to her says “are you afraid Captain will find out”

Could be a military captain, but it could be right in our face that he’s referencing boat captain.

Someone has to pilot that big boat that carries all of those vans to get to the island. Season 1, the police officer attacked a pink solider inside the van to change his identity.

I'm like you. Watched the first season way late, and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.

Especially after someone on here said to watch it in Korean with English substitles. Only way to watch it. I had watched the first couple of episodes English dubbed. Watching it in Korean changed everything. So much more dramatic, serious, and better. Watch in Korean language, folks.

I'm in the middle of S2 now.

I'm really enjoying the different approach of this story. Him going through the games again. And the bad guy in there with him. Very interesting.

They had their first new game. The groups of 5 going around the track doing the 5 tricks.

I'm off today. May binge the rest.of the show today. Nobody else in my family watches it.

From the trailer, its completely different than the way I thought it would go...

So he vowed revenge at end of Season 1 and instead of exposing them, he rejoins the game? Why wouldn't they just put a target on his back and kill him in one of the games and be done with his revenge plot?

Interesting reading this post before release.

I think they did a good job on the show to pull this story line off nicely.

Using him so the cop can track the island. But of course that doesn't go as planned. And here we are. ( I'm on Ep 5 right now).

It was very believable and well done I think.

Agree, they did a good job... But still not believable that as coordinated and buttoned up as the games are, they would allow 456 back in.

If he was trying to expose them, they would just kill him, plain and simple.

This is definitely the way to watch it. The only time I watch it dubbed is if I am doing something. Like yesterday when I was finishing it up I had it dubbed because I was folding clothes and couldn't watch/read every single line. So dubbing works for something like that. But the dubs themselves take away from the show bigly...it almost sounds like a joke the way they read the lines.

I finished it up. Here are my thoughts (before reading through the thread, which I will do shortly).

Spoilers

I enjoyed it, but it paled in comparison to S1. Big time. This season felt a lot more.....silly? I'm not sure of the right word, but just weird shite like the way Thanos was acting and dancing all around, and the literal circus/clownish music they played during the games. It just had a completely different feel to it. I mean even the contestants, who were in a very serious game where it is literally life or death, were dancing around and cheering like children at times. It was weird.

Like the 6-legged race where they had to play the games. You have five minutes to complete a lap and all of the games and cross the finish line. Yet these people are cheering for like 5-10 seconds after beating one of the games. It just felt......stupid I guess. Seconds are precious yet they are skipping through things like there aren't serious consequences at stake.

I also didn't like the drama of all of the votes. The show is about the games, so we know that every time there is a vote it will end up in the circles' favor. Yet that shite was dragged out over and over to create drama that felt forced and fake.

Same thing with In-ho (Front Man) getting into the game. We know who he is so we know that everything he's telling Gi-hun is bullshite and he doesn't really want to get out of the game. So any drama tied to that feels fake because we know that ultimately he is going to frick them over for the good of the game. I also didn't really understand why he joined the game anyway. I assume it was to try to keep Gi-hun in check. But surely they would not have killed him had he lost one of the games, right? Like if they would've lost the 6-legged race game, I assume they wouldn't have killed him in front of everyone.

Thanos was just all around terrible. He was a cartoon and completely out of place, and a horrible "villain" for this season. I don't know if it was the actor or the way the character was written or what, but he was awful and a complete waste of screen time. I mean, in the very first game (RL/GL) he shoves several people down and gets them killed on purpose. Yet we are supposed to believe that people are going to trust a single thing he does or says? And him speaking random lines in English was very strange.

And how incompetent can the police detective dude and his crew be? You have a literal GPS showing you where Gi-hun is and which island he is on, yet you can't figure it out for some reason? The captain's turn was not well done at all. He went from dopey boat captain to killer double agent in like five seconds. It also seems like one of the mercenary dudes could also be in on it too.

I did enjoy this season well enough, but it is a shadow of its former self. And I suspect I won't watch it again. While S1 was obviously left open-ended enough to continue the show, I feel like it would be better served if it were just a standalone show with one single season. The story works much better without this continuation IMO.

Watching this show and listening to the dialogue, I don't think I could ever learn or understand/speak Korean. It all sounds the same to me.

This season over? There's only 1 more season, figured you'd stick it out to finish the series.

Tbh, I'm also having a helluva time differentiating the women on this show beyond the grandma & the tranny & the witch.

I thought the Kawaii Instagram girl was going to make it well past Red Light/Green Light, that's for sure.

The pregnant girl had the eyebrow piercing, but for the first couple of episodes, I had trouble differentiating between her and soldier #11, especially with the clinic scene coming right up against the amusement park ones establishing that #11 was having money problems, living in her car, etc.

I hate when a season doesn't have an actual ending. You could tell by episode 5, there was no way we would get a real ending to the season

Yeah, not finishing a season-long storyline with no idea that a midseason cliffhanger is coming is worse than when others were complaining about the way Cobra Kai & Stranger Things were very upfront about being split into parts.

I'll finish the show. I'm saying I likely won't rewatch this season again. I'll either do a recap or just watch the last half of the finale or something.

I wasn't a fan of their plan to sacrifice basically their entire side just to overtake the guards. That seemed a little stupid to me. They had the numbers. So fight and defend yourselves or attack first or whatever. But they could've come out with the numbers to end the game instead of taking on the obvious suicide mission of trying to overtake the whole facility with just a handful of people and a few guns (with very limited ammo).

Front Man is awesome. In my mind, Storm Shadow from GI Joe would always be played by some dude like that under the hood.

Season 2 '001' was "just" The Frontman from seasons 1/2.

Don't forget - Jun-Ho (cop who infiltrated the Island on S1) discovered that his brother (Front Man) won his season, 5 years prior.

I'd assumed that Front Man was offered his position by 001 after his win.

When he enters the game in S2, and begins to open up to 456 to gain his trust, there's nothing indicating that his story of his wife's & child's illnesses weren't his real motivation for playing the game when he did. This is confirmed by Jun-Ho's conversation with their mother, on the anniversary of Front Man's wife's death.

They established that the GPS chip was removed from Gi-Hun's hollow tooth and placed in the bait bucket that was given to the unsuspecting fisherman. It stands to reason that it was detected as soon as Gi-Hun was knocked out in the limo and sent in a separate direction as a decoy.

It can be a weird culture. I agree it was silly, but it's really not that out of place for asians.
I noticed it during the 6 legged race where the curly headed guy with the mom there was making outlandish faces while they walked. Koreans are weird, just accept that.

I've been to Korea and China. Almost everywhere I went you could find someone that spoke english.

They did find the GPS, it was taken out of Gi-hun's mouth. Do you not remember them finding it in the bucket of worms with that guy fishing?

What I thought was dumb was that they had the device activated when he was captured. Of course they were going to scan him to see if he had something like that on his body. It should have been dormant until he got to the island and in the games, and then he activate the GPS.
