He was in The Social Network as the Winklevoss Twins and the new Lone Ranger movies. He just has the classic comicbook look of Bruce Wayne.

High-Jack
Why the eff hasn't Phillip Seymour Hoffman been The Penguin yet??
I heard a rumor about this a few years back and have never heard more.
He would be incredibly evil....

I saw a rumor a while back that said Armie Hammer was up for the role in Justice League.
Seen this as well.
I'm fairly big on having these guys physically match their roles as much as possible. He's a tall guy that can probably put on mass.
Batman, without any superpowers, has to have some weight to him when you see him. Bale never had that look at least to me.

I was going to say Fassbender, but he's only 3 years younger than Bale...
This isn't really a bad thing since I think most of Batman's best stories happen when he's aged a bit.

James Roday from Psych of course.
He already has a sidekick. He already has a signature "vehicle". What more can you ask for.

It's been mentioned before, but I would love to see them throw continuity out the window and do a movie version of "The Killing Joke" directed by David Fincher, with Benedict Cumberbatch as the Joker.
I'd love for them to do a Dark Knight Returns where Michael Keaton reprises the role and Sean Penn could play The Joker. Yeah I despise Sean Penn as well, but I think he could do well as an aging Joker.

Maybe Bale could pull it off until 50. I dunno. Seems like a stretch, but the guy is straight up crazy with his body, able to mold it into whatever the hell shape he wants. His discipline is out of control. But I just would hate to see age sneak up on him and the producers realize it too late.

Sean Penn was suggested as the Joker around the same time that Heath Ledger was cast...the thinking is you wouldn't want someone who was funny for the part, since the Joker is an awful comedian.

Someone who isnt just a model who gets thrown in tons of current action movies to appeal to the girls and gets one liners, shootouts, and other BS to appeal to the dudes who wish they were them.

I'm sure just like a lot of other recent movie remakes, they will probably make a black guy batman next
