I think it added the right amount of tension to the story, especially in Hallows. Ron and Hermione had each other, and all Harry could do is wonder how Ginny was doing. Humanized him a bit more, as opposed to this determined character with just one focus.

I don't think it was necessary for Harry to get into a long relationship. I get the Cho thing... and maybe he could have had another fling. But there's no reason that a 16 year old should find his lifelong love just because he's our protagonist and we won't see him beyond 17 years.

Luna and Harry might have been even worse.

I wouldn't even have had Harry and Luna kiss if I had it my way, but I would have the implication that Harry and Luna had feelings for one another at the end of the war, and that they would eventually follow-up on it. I don't think it's all that important who Harry ends up with, but I do think Luna is more compatable with Harry than Ginny is.

And yeah, the Epilogue would be completely out as far as I'm concerned. I'd just end it and maybe talk about some of the immediate aftermath of the war, but I would never talk about the characters in their 30s.

Aside from being social outcasts, I really don't see what these two really have in common. That one is just rounding out the 6 main members of Dumbledore's Army into all being couples, and that's really it.

quote:

Harry and Ginny had all their time on the quidditch team, and she took more to Fred and George's rebellious tendencies, and plus, she was a big into Dumbledore's Army. She was able to help him through his "voldemort possession" episode because she HAD been possessed by him. Plus it was Harry that saved her. I think it was a good gradual build up

Most of those listed are events and not really bonding moments though, save the Voldemort possession thing, but Ron and Hermione got to experience that as well. I just don't think they had any character building moments between the characters, and after CoS, Ginny is a non-factor at large, aside from contributing to Ron's inferiority complex in the final novel.

Why does this add tension? It's just him wondering where Ginny is. If you want tension in a relationship, then the clear answer is Luna. Voldemort kidnapped her and is doing God knows what with her. As soon as Harry finds out about that and he cares deeply for her and Voldemort knows that as well, then it adds a great deal of tension to the story.

He starts to feel isolated from the other two, even more than he had been already. He feels alone at points, especially when Ron and Hermione start questioning if Harry knows what he's doing.

Whatever you feel about the relationship, it takes nothing away from the story. It adds more to the narrative if anything.

We'll just have to agree to disagree

Dumbledore told Snape everything just like Snape told Dumbeldore everything. They were the masterminds behind Voldemort's downfall and as Dumbledore already knew about the Elder Wand from his days with Grindlewald, then he would of course tell Snape about them, especially seeing as how Voldemort would want it.

Hell I haven't read them in awhile, but It wouldn't surprise me if Dumbeldore told Snape to tell Voldemort about them in the first place.

Horcruxes and Hallows were the two big things Dumbledore only told Harry about. If Snape had known about the wand, he would have done more to secure it after Dumbledore's death.

Nope, lol

I literally just listened to it last night. In the princes tale chapter of deathly Hallows, one of the memories is of snape complaining to Dumbledore that he isnt telling him everything, but expects him to do all these things for him

Yep. That was a big source of contention with Snape. Like I pointed out earlier, it was key to withhold certain bits of info from Snape because he was so close to Voldemort.

Isn't the epilogue one of the first things she wrote?
She probably felt like she needed it in

I believe her, due to how horribly it was written. She was a better writer than that chapter indicates, and it's simply shite fan fiction. Albus Severus?!

Ironic that my two favorite books are my least two favorite movies. Goblet of Fire movie was a complete letdown and they just fricked up Azkaban completely.

How? Just because they didn't directly mention the Marauders? It's almost without question the best movie in the Harry Potter franchise.

I mean I guess you're allowed to believe this but it is blatantly false.
