Reading Hallows for the second time, I actually had to stop at the conversation with Ollivander. I was like "holy crap, that's when it all clicked for Harry".

I think it clicked at Malfoy Manor. But the two conversations he had at shell cottage were only confirmation and for the benefit of Ron Hermione and the reader.

1. Order of the Phoenix
2. Half Blood Prince
3. Goblet of Fire
4. Deathly Hallows
5. Prisoner of Azkaban
6. Chamber of Secrets
7. Philosopher's Stone

That list was a lot harder than I expected. Especially 1-4. I love them all so much.

I loved how irrate Ron was when they found out that Voldemort was about to get the elder wand. Harry made the decision to speak to Griphook first because he knew the important thing was horcrux's. He was uneasy at the thought that they kind of allowed Voldemort to get to the wand, but I think he knew a) they wouldn't have been able to stop him, and b) he was the master anyways, so he would be able to deal with it when the time came.

Since the books started off primarily for kids, it's not a surprise that most people's list go from end to beginning

I read the series 4 times all the way through in the summer of 2007. Then I imposed a 10 year ban on myself. Only 2 more years till I can revisit them.

I was in 7th grade when I first started reading them. The fourth booked was about to come out or had just come out. I've re-read them more times than I can count.

I got in to them reluctantly, and I was in my 30's. Goblet of Fire was about to come out in theaters and my friend was getting me to watch the first three to get caught up. I liked them all right and was looking forward to 4. Him and another guy I worked with kept encouraging me to pick up the books but I was adamant that I wasn't going to read that kids series. They kept on and I relented, and I never looked back.

I remembered when I got to Phoenix, I was super annoyed at Harry and asked if he was going to be that way the entire book. They just laughed

It's by far the most difficult book to reread. It's not "fun" like PoA or GoF nor is it as interesting and packed with important info like HBP. And there are chapters that seem out of place or even pointless. She has admitted that it's about 5 or 6 chapters too long but she was forced by a deadline.

She's come out and said she regrets not putting Harry and Hermione together. Found that interesting since I thought Hermione and Ron was a good "opposites attract" pairing, and the Harry/Ginny story line, especially when he knew he was going to have to leave her for a while, was good.

To me, Harry/Ginny seemed almost forced. Like almost too cliche and at the same time unnecessary. I liked Ron/Hermy though. The tension and humor added (while cliche as well) made for some great moments.

I wouldn't say forced. She was obviously smitten with him since book 2. Was just inevitable.

So were all of the girls his age at some point. It just felt like something that wasn't necessary at all. I never felt like they ever had to be together. And it didn't help that there was zero chemistry between them in the movies.

Screw the movies. They completely watered down Ron and Ginny in the movies.

There were only a few of the characters they nailed in the movies (Fred and George, McGonagall, Hagrid). It was just some awful, awkward acting by most of them.

And don't even get me started on what they did to Dumbledore.

Emma Watson's eyebrows had more character than Ginny...

That prologue at the end of DH pt 2 was just so painful. I honestly think none of them are any good at acting.

I would say it was completely forced. The two characters had no chemistry and I can't think of a truly meaningful scene between the two characters. Really, what big scene did these two have together? Can't think of anything outside of the Chamber of Secrets. They are among literatures worst couples of all time.

I'll tell you who Harry should have ended up with: Luna Lovegood. There was actually surprising chemistry between the characters. Luna was the only one who truly understood what Harry was going through in OotP. They clearly had bonding moments throughout the final 3 novels. Hell, she actually helped Harry on his quest for the Horcruxes, when Ginny didn't do jackshit in that regard. I wouldn't have any crushes in OotP, have Harry surprisingly like having Luna around when he takes her to the Slug Club and have overwhelming appreciation for trying to defend Hogwarts (which he did), and then when he rescues her in DH from the Malfoys, he may consider these feelings to be more than just friendship. I'd also have her tag along with Harry permanently after Malfoy Manor, and her destroy the Diadem Horcrux.

I don't think it was necessary for Harry to get into a long relationship. I get the Cho thing... and maybe he could have had another fling. But there's no reason that a 16 year old should find his lifelong love just because he's our protagonist and we won't see him beyond 17 years.

Luna and Harry might have been even worse.

I thought Luna and Neville would end up together, but I feel that would have been more forced. I think she ends up marrying Dean.

Harry and Ginny had all their time on the quidditch team, and she took more to Fred and George's rebellious tendencies, and plus, she was a big into Dumbledore's Army. She was able to help him through his "voldemort possession" episode because she HAD been possessed by him. Plus it was Harry that saved her. I think it was a good gradual build up.

Worked for me

I just don't think it had to be part of these books. Maybe JK could have come out and said that they end up together down the road. I would have preferred that.
