Starz is bringing back Spartacus. Sorta. A new series called "House of Ashur".

"Spartacus: House of Ashur" on Starz"
"Spartacus: House of Ashur", from "Spartacus" creator Steven S. DeKnight, is a new 10-episode live-action drama series, starring Nick Tarabay as the villainous 'Ashur', a role he originated in the "Spartacus" series four season run, airing in 2024 on Starz:

"...'Spartacus: House of Ashur' will be a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit.

"The series poses the question: what if 'Ashur', played by fan favorite Nick Tarabay, hadn't died on 'Mount Vesuvius' at the end of 'Spartacus: Vengeance'?

"And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by 'Batiatus' in return for aiding the 'Romans' in killing 'Spartacus' and putting an end to the slave rebellion?..."

Bold choice. I hated that conniving mofo, which is the sign of a great villain. I guess I’m on board since we have the opportunity to see him die like a bitch twice.

erotic

The original seasons had a fair amount of “gay” in it…one wonders how much they amplify that in this current age.

Batiatus

Let’s hope he gets “Batistus’ Book of Swears” with the school.

Meh. If they’re gonna do a “what if…” spin off i’d much rather it be about spartacus and company winning the rebellion and taking down the romans. Crixus and naevia can stay dead though.

Every time I see that actor in another role I mumble to myself, “fricking Asher”.

ehh.... I really liked the Spartacus series and Ashur is a great villain but this really seems like a jump the shark so high you fly straight into the sun moment as it pertains to sequels and reboots.

First time I watched The Expanse this was definitely my reaction.
