The only young actor with enough chops to pull it off that I can think of, and he seems too whiny, is Freddy Highmore.

What about that guy who plays Joffrey in GOT if he can do an American accent?

I hope they never make a movie version of that book. And if they ever do, I refuse to see it.

Pretty sure I agree with this. Whichever studio and director that got ahold to the rights would know itd have to be a grand slam.

I feel the same way about "On The Road" and was miserable after I saw the movie

It better be someone good. I don't want a bunch of stupid rubbernecks gawking at me because I'm being played by some Hollywood phony.

Anyone from a Pro Active commercial could play Ackley.

Holden Caulfield and John Yossarian from Catch-22 are two of my all time favorite literary characters.

Well, you'll probably not like him, then like him, then not like him again.

What about Logan Lerman? After seeing Perks, I think he could pull off the deeply introverted character pretty well

Since Holden Caulfield sucks, it should be an actor that sucks. So, Shia Leboeuf.

or that fricker who plays Joffery on GoT

Then we might get into the problem of conflating movies when thinking about Logan Lerman.

Despicable? NFW.

he was a selfish little piece of shite who was jealous of others. instead of working to be more like them, he called them fake and created a false competition with them in his head. he's also irresponsible and is a great example of many people i've met in my life who were not smart, but thought they were intelligent/insightful, and then looked down on others.

holden represents many ideals that are terrible for youths. i can see how a 13-14 year old could identify (as i did around that age), but by 17-18 they should detest holden. he is who kids should not want to be/emulate

Hmmm....

I fear you might have missed what I believe was the major theme of the book.

But, anyhoo....
