That was weals sauce. It’s clear Dave only wanted to do the monologue and that sketch. That was save for those two thing pathetic. They called two of the greatest games of all time Mario 1 and Mario 3, which is something my grandparents would say given the property. Just open halfassedness.

Terrible show outside of the Monologue and Skit 1 with Aunt Jemima. Even the Foo Fighters were just average. Dogshit show.

The cold open was such a pep rally. It was awful and Jim Carrey’s Biden sucks.

It's been unenjoyable since Baldwin took over as Trump, and before that too. I'm not one of those "SNL has sucked since 20 years ago." I thought it was great in the 90's, sucked for most of the 00's, hit a new stride from about '10-14, and has been pretty awful since then.
Their writers suck, big time. You can tell because the shows where you see some good sketches usually feature a host that is a talented writer / comedian. Whereas their shows with less talented actors in those areas are mostly forgettable. The cast is good enough to do well with good writing. They don't have any stars that can carry the show even with bad writing, besides maybe McKinnon.

Kate McKinnon is the only thing holding the show together at this point. With the exception of Kenan, do you think that 90% of America could name another cast member besides those two? Maybe Pete Davidson just because he dated Arianna Grande and was a prick that one time to Dan Crenshaw and it became an actual good moment, but other than that, that’s it. SNL is doomed unless they have someone good in the reserves I’m not aware of.

I only recorded about the first third or so because of the game delaying. I skipped the open but thought the monologue was decent. I don’t mind people making fun of my side of the aisle as long as it’s funny.
And I’m clearly in the minority here but I thought the Nintendo flashback skit was pretty good. But I like random stupid humor like that and was glad they tried something like that. And people definitely called them Mario 3 and whatnot. Not sure where that misguided hatred is coming from in the thread.
The Jemima one was okay. I see lots of comments about Dave not being in many skits. I wonder if him breaking character (and the fourth wall) has anything to do with that. Like if they pulled him for that?
I want to take a minute to again reiterate that Kenan Thompson is easily one of the absolute fricking worst cast members of all time. He’s so fricking bad. Every single skit he’s in he’s Kenan Thompson smile-reading through his lines with that stupid tone and stupid grin on his face. Every. Single. fricking. Time. I will never understand how or why he is so beloved. He’s legit terrible.
I hope to watch the rest of the episode soon, as it wasn’t on demand yet earlier.
