Small things in shows/movies that bother you
This is for “small”, inconsequential things in shows that bother you.

I noticed this in both Ozark and True Detective.

Shows have an inability to portray health vitals correctly.

Every monitor in the hospital shows these vitals:

Heart rate 60
Blood pressure 120/80
Oxygen 100%
Respiratory rate 20

I really hate it and it bothers me, but it is completely irrelevant to the show.

They could just put the actor on the monitor and it would be more accurate.

It doesn’t matter.

But it’s there and it’s stupid.

Y’all got anything?

Another thing is the sound guns apparently make when they are pointed at people.

Who knew they made the “click” chambering noise when pointed.

Was going to post that, except when someone is getting killed when a suppressor is used. That sum bitch doesn’t make any cocking nose.

Not so specific right off, but from back in the day, car chases with tire screeches on gravel, sand or grass.

Over use of the Wilhelm scream.

In shows when people open a beer take one sip then leave.

Most noticeable in HIMYM

Nobody closes doors! They walk into their apartment or house and just leave the front door open.

Also, when people order a drink or food and never touch it.

Well we all know there are a million things wrong with gun play in movies.

But we accept it's just for movies.

But yeah, I don't know why Hollywood thinks the viewer needs to hear a sound when a gun is pointed at someone.

Or the cop/bad guy/whomever gets all prepared for a gunfight and has all these guns and there's like a montage of him chambering a round in every gun and then he gets into the fight out on the field and has to chamber the gun again.

Or pulling the clip out and staring at it after a few shots...dude you don't know how many cartidges you put in the clip?

And the only time you will see a cop or shooter reload is if they're carrying a wheelgun and then they'll just throw in the 5-shot clip...they don't want on-screen time to see someone methodically reload a semi-auto so it's just, hey he has 20 clips.

I mean we all love Die Hard but John McClaine was an off-duty cop in a different city...going over for a Holiday Vacation. He wouldn't have 1000 rounds on his person and tons of clips if he even could've/would've been allowed to bring his gun.

And what the frick is he doing carrying a gun in a shoulder holster on a plane while on vacation?

And this was pre-911 but sorry that wasn't kosher back then. Oh, hey you're a cop...sure have a nice flight with your loaded gun. We can't and don't have the time to vet you, but you said you were with the NYPD so that's good enough for us...even if you've been fired or declared mentally unstable...we don't care, you have a badge...you're good to go crazy person.

I always wondered how much of a dumb stare I would get from a bartender if I walked in and just said “get me a beer” or “whiskey, neat”.

Well that's old Western talk pardner.

Apparently in the Old West, every Saloon only had one whiskey and one type of beer. The beer I believe...the Whiskey I don't.

There's a scene in Cocktail where they are working this massive club with tons of people and there's two bartenders behind the counter...and they're spending 5 minutes flipping bottles to make ONE drink...and everyone is so happy and cheering.

What are you happy about? You're not getting a drink in a million years.

Starbucks type cups that are obviously empty, especially when it’s a tray of them and they seem to defy gravity.

All manner or courtroom scenes.

Fake watches. One that comes to mind is Bobby Axelrod's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph. Of the maybe 2% of the viewers that notice it and recognize what it is probably half will know it is a fake.

Explosions/munitions that look nothing like the real form of the particular explosive/munition look like. An ANFO explosion doesn't look like C4 and neither look like dynamite. Improper connection blasting caps, detcord, etc. There was a series in the last couple of years that had a claymore mine that didn't have the primer inserted correctly and it went off properly. The size, power, and audible components of most hand grenade explosions are significantly underestimated by directors.

There are tons more. Yes, detail bug me.

When they order food and it just sits there and they leave without touching it or eating it. I know they shoot 100 takes and so they can't be actually eating it but they need to fake it better.

Or fix a big breakfast, ( eggs, bacon, grits, pancakes, toast, juice, coffee, etc... ) take one bite, and then they're out the door.

re: Small things in shows/movies that bother you
We get this thread every so often and I love it. So many peeves. Oh, where to begin?

The ability to shake off a hangover instantly. I understand the reasoning but still.

Kids coming downstairs, sitting down at the breakfast table where their gracious parents have already prepared a nice spread, eating one bite, and then hurrying off to school. Nobody does mornings like that.

The pronoun game, as often pointed out in “Everything Wrong With” videos. Nobody speaks that way.

When the protagonist and the archenemy square off in public, perhaps in a schoolyard or mall, and exchange long words. What irks me about these epic dialogues are the inevitable crowds that gather to listen. Not merely to watch in anticipation of a fistfight (which might be realistic) but to actually listen to the parley. And perhaps clap in celebration of the truce. Bothers me greatly.

#1 pistol as the best weapon. Always with the damn pistol. It’s so ingrained. Rifle is 100x better unless concealment is needed.

Also Gun fight against huge odds and the protagonist just ignores the guns, ammo, etc of fallen enemies.

I loved it when Deadpool forgot all his guns before the finale of the first movie. At least we got an explanation of why any hero would not be heavily armed.

re: Small things in shows/movies that bother you
Another one that gets me is people that live in apartments and houses they could never afford.

A single person with no backstory of money who might make 100K a year lives in a converted loft in NYC with 50 grand in living room furniture and a kitchen with Russell/Viking/SubZ appliances and Wood-Mode/Grabill/Rutt level cabinets. Their 28/36 would be more like 128/136.
