Watched last night. Definitely not as good as the hype and RT score indicated, but I enjoyed it well enough.
The spanning of the eras of black music/dancing was too corny for me. That scene would have been much better without all of that.
Movie was too long, and there were way too many slow parts considering its a horror/vampire movie.
The trio of vampires songs, and the irish folk song and dancing were all pretty ridiculous, but I enjoyed those parts.
The blues music was cool.
I thought that the acting was fine for the most part. Loved the Delta Slim character. MBJ did a good job playing twins.

Agreed. Sinners has a higher RT score than The Thing, and in no universe is Sinners a better movie than The Thing

Can we all pitch in on a bottle of wine for the person that cast Delroy Lindo in this role and NOT Samuel L.?
Delroy is an amazing actor and absolutely nailed this role.

Anyone else notice the director/writer might be a little obsessed with chowing vaj?
It was either discussed or happened atleast 4 separate times in the movie.

Interesting movie. Until the last 10 minutes where all the white people just randomly decided to kill black people.
If Hollywood made an honest movie now who’s killing who?

How absurd that the KKK in 1932 would randomly attempt to kill some uppity negros.

It’s a vampire movie but they couldn’t help but throw in a white man bad conclusion?
It didn’t really have anything to do with the actual plot/focus of the movie.
I agree that what happened to black people back then was terrible but it seemed forced into a vampire movie. The whites just show up to kill blacks for no reason.
If you don’t think white men have been targeted in the last few years you’re blind. Hollywood/TV has an agenda and it’s modern white men are bad or stupid and I’m sick of it.

Sinners isn't a "vampire movie." Vampires are just one of the vehicles as is the KKK used to tell a story that you seemed to totally miss.

Loved the rocky road to Dublin scene

I was pretty disappointed in this one. I was really excited to watch it, but it plodded along at times and too much gratuitous humping.

I liked it in theaters and watched again when it came on Max. I mean it was good but I didn't think it was this so amazing movie.

Ummm...the lead Vampire learned of the KKKs plan to kill all of the blacks when he killed the couple. The when the brother was bit, he learned about it as well and told the other twin. Or something like that. It was not a surprise

"I can see his memories" is how it was phrased.
It was also a parallel between the vampires and Klan when Hogwood said, "I got money" right before Smoke blew him away. It suggested that the love of money was the root of all evil.
Just did another re-watch the other night with my kid, and I wasn't on mushrooms like I was the first time when I watched it solo.

Maybe he's trying to break a stereotype

I thought it would have been cool for the Native Americans to make another appearance. Like, if they had joined the final big fight in the juke joint or provided some context on why they were randomly chasing a vampire.
