I usually dont like anime (the over the top shite) but i really enjoyed both of those shows and so did my kids.. the japanese do a great job at world building and character development.. anyone have any recommendations for similar shows/movies?
Weve been going through the Studio Ghibli movies and those are amazing as well… honestly they havent put a single bad one out that ive seen.. probably because the director would have to commit seppuku if they did

I like the dungeon show but they do the one thing I hate in anime. What is the Japanese love with whiny female voice? It’s like nails on a chalk board to me. If it wasn’t for that this show would get two thumbs up from me.

8th MS Team: it’s the most grounded and human story you’ll ever see about giant robot fights.
Spy Family: super cute little spy show about a telepathic child who is adopted by a spy so he can enroll her in the same school as a rival nation’s big wig leader. He marries a woman to complete the family facade, but she’s secretly an assassin. None of them know the other’s secret. Also, there’s a psychic dog.
Toradora: by far the best rom com/slice of life anime out there. Every character feels like a fully fleshed out human with flaws and a full character arc.
Death Note: this is a classic. Definitely not for kids, and over the top at times, but a really fun chess match akin to Holmes vs Moriarty from the perspective of Moriarty.
Ace Attorney: really fun anime based on the video game series.
Vinland Saga: over the top violence, but incredible character development and world building. “I have no enemies…”
Outlaw Star: fun scify show about essentially pirates in space seeking a crazy treasure.

You must be watching the sub; my wife hates subtitles so we end up watching the dub. Your comment had me raising my eyebrow for a moment.
Her American voice actor does not share that whiny tone.
