Shiny Happy People - Duggar Family Secrets on Amazon Prime

I never watched their show on TLC, but I knew who they were. I also knew of the Josh Duggar stories in the news. But other than that, I never paid much attention to them.
This Prime show interviews the oldest daughter and family friends and shows what a truly fricked up situation this whole thing was. They also interview other people who were part of the religion/cult the Duggars were in. I guess I just assumed they were Mormon or something, I didn’t realize they followed some weirdo dude that started his own religion that required home schooling and other weird shite.
Jim Bob is a real piece of shite. He knew Josh was abusing his sisters and tried to sweep it under the rug. Then he had the girls go on television and defend Josh and say that the abuse “wasn’t that bad.” JB made $8M off the show and the kids saw none of it.
It’s an interesting watch.

it was good, I watched it last night. I didn't like how they tried to make it political in the 4th episode. They described exactly what the far left are doing right now by infiltrating institutions.

They didn't "make it political." It is political. It paints the backdrop for their cult, and it's an integral part of the story.

I agree that it is political. But it's just typical of the media to go full blown INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM when it comes to sketchy conservatives, but just shrug and say "nothing to see here" when it comes to leftists in the same types of situations. Once again it's not what they ARE reporting that I take issue with. There are some extremely shady folks around this Duggar thing and their church, and this is a story that needs investigating. But i take issue with what they AREN'T reporting, or even openly mocking the idea that there is anything to investigate, pertaining to Epstein, Hunter Biden, Bill Clinton, and a virtually unlimited number of threads that at least deserve pulling with leftists.

There’s a person we know that worked in underage sex trade and was associated with 2 living presidents and royalty. One President that literally went to his island.
But the media is completely uninterested in that.

I’m very interested in this. But I assume they will lump all of us Christian homeschoolers in with the Goderdites and that will piss me right off so I think I’ll pass.

There are a few comments related to "homeschoolers" in general, but most of it is focused on the IBLP content of what this particular group taught in their homeschool. It's some crazy stuff.

All you have to do is watch this first few minutes and the producers agenda is clear. Their focus is bashing Christianity and use the Duggars as ammunition. Because of course all Christians are like them.
I made it about 15 minutes in. That was when they had a prog "youtube influencer" give her take. She has pink hair and weighs about 500 pounds.
That was enough for me.
