He is traditionally Superman's physical equal, but probably has a slight edge in a fight with Superman because his powers are magic based.

Looks great and obviously doesn't take itself too seriously. The director has made it known that he was going for a "Big" vibe with hopefully some real heart, so here's to having a great trailer for Comic-Con.

I think they're doing padding as well as working out. It would take a body builder to just about look like the way they draw him half the time.

The magic invulnerability has always been wonky. The more direct things Captain Marvel can do they are physical equals.
Toe for toe pound for pound they can go the distance until one or the other gets bored.
It's the lightning since it's not just lightning but pure magic juice that bypasses supes. And supes can sometimes tank it a bit like in DCAU, but we've also seen the Big Red Cheese OHKO him with it in the comics.
