Did anyone else catch Marian say at the very end of the episode, it's not safe here?

I just assumed it was towards John and didn’t think about it. But, John was already outside, and there could be something there directed at Ashley.

So Adora and the Chief are definitely framing John to cover for someone, maybe even themselves. It seems the show is hinting that Miriam was being poisoned.

Camille was raped, but the show has focused on the dude who actually didn’t rape her, and seemed to actually feel horrible about what happened to her?

Someone brought it up, but I have no idea how old Camille is supposed to be. From Camille herself, she is definitely younger than 33, and by the way she said it, maybe even way younger than that.

This show throws stuff out there, but doesn’t seem to answer anything. I have a feeling we will get a like 10 second montage at the end quickly answering everything we should have caught.

Im glad this is a just a mini series, because this thing is a snooze fest. For gods sake can something happen.

From what I understand is that it is remarkably close to the book. Which I applaud but this would probably make for a better beige watch.

It’s well directed, well acted and interesting but it’s really slow to wait a week for

Its supposed to be a large age gap. Amma is just her half-sister after all.

There was actually a theory on reddit for a while that Amma was actually Camille's daughter from the rape. Would make sense if Camille is around 30 or so.

I like it enough that I ordered the book on Amazon. I read her two other books and so far this one is up there with her other books.

I'm still rolling with my early Munchausen by proxy diagnosis guess. Wouldn't at all surprise me if Adora killed her.

Camille and Amma spinning in the yard and her seeing a wide-eyed screaming sister freaked me the frick out FWIW. That was some creepy arse shite. Then the "it's not safe here for you". Gave goosebumps.

Since Adora is on her second marriage, it's possible that a decent amount of time lapsed between kids. Especially when you consider Camille's natural sister passing away.

I have a good friend whose Mom remarried about 15 years after her first husband was killed in a car accident (they married right out of high school and had kids shortly after). Then they had him. So his half-brother and half-sisters are all 15-20 years older than him.

That all said, Cap's mention of the potential Camille rape baby makes a lot of sense too. Especially if you look at Camille's response to her bitchy HS cheerleader friends harping on that "you can't be a real woman until you have a child" bullshite.

I'll give it props for that if that's the case.

It's just it's been six episodes and absolutely nothing has happened.

Outside of Camille and maybe Amma, there has been no character development. And that's being generous of you want to say that about either of those characters.

Adora is still the exact same crazy person she was since the beginning. Det. Willis is just some plain Jane detective that doesn't do anything outside of making one phone call to try and find out more about Camille and wondering around the town. Alan is just a vague as ever, they haven't tried to make him anymore interesting. Chief Vickory, another useless cop, has been the same exact character as from the start, other than you know he has some kind relationship/past with Adora.

So the story is basically "let's make everybody just stupidly weird or extremely vanilla, give no depth of character to anybody, then do the final reveal and pretend it was right in front of you all the time."

But it's not surprising that I'm not crazy about it seeing that Gone Girl was one of the worst books I've ever read. I loath that piece of trash of a story. This just started out good and I like any Adams so I wanted to really like it. But basically you're going to be able to watch episode one, skip everything else until the last episode, and you would barely miss a beat.

Can't argue with this. I love the feel of it but if they wait until the last 15 minutes of the finale to just throw everything together I'm going to be pissed. So far all we've done is watch Amma skate and everyone else drink.

Yep, https://postshowrecaps.com.

Sharp Objects as well as a bunch of other excellent shows.

I'm following along with the GOT rewatch as well. It's going to end a little before the final season.

If that's all you've gotten from the show. Why keep watching?

we get it everyone is crazy.

I really don't get people who keep saying this. The Calhoun Day episode was the only one that didn't progress the actual crime story. But it was still informative on the characters and the town of Wind Gap (Granted Calhoun Day does not take place in the book).

This last episode progressed the murder and introduced the fact that Adora is possibly putting this murder on someone else.

I’ve noticed that people look for things to complain about now when shows aren’t released all at once. If people could binge this show the complaining would be much less, but because they are impatient and think they are owed the show all at once they complain about things not happening

Who was it informative ok? You learned more about multiple characters in that one episode? Curious to who those might be.

Progressed the murder, seriously? They found a bicycle in a lake. She found a bike, which was more defective work than either cop combined, and defended bob just like she has done since the beginning. The scene was 2 minutes long. That's not much, the rest of the episode was the same old same old.

I've been one of the few critics in this thread, and I much prefer a weekly release instead of Netflix style. Especially dramas and really even more so bc it's a mini series.

If people are complaining for that season, that's pretty stupid. My complaint is all story related and incredibly slow development of the story. If this is very true to the books, then I guess it's more criticism to the book than the show. I'm not going to readily accept that a show is great just bc I want it to be, which I did.

I actually like having a weekly show to look forward to, along with Better Call Saul these are the only shows I watch as it airs. Like I said I love the atmosphere, Amy Adams is always great, and I've long thought Patricia Clarkson was one of the most underrated actresses in Hollywood. But this show is starting to feel like one of the true crime docs on Netflix like The Staircase that should be a few episodes but are strung out so far that you have a beginning, an end, and in the middle a bunch of filler.

Good lord, I want to punch Alan in the throat and demand he be a man.
