Thoughts:

1. I love Samuel L. Jackson, but Marvel has shown a lot of capacity to waste good talent with terrible writing. She-Hulk has a couple of talented folks in it but you'd never know it. I will still give this one a try, I think, but I can definitely understand if some folks won't bother.

2. It would be great if some folks would make cameos. Spider-Man's identity might not be known, but him and Daredevil make great street-level heroes. It's dark, so getting an appearance from She-Hulk in something that isn't a non-stop joke fest might be interesting as well.

3. *IF* they can not freaking quip every 15 seconds, I would love a dark Marvel series. They haven't had a truly serious one since they ended the Netflix Marvel series (the best Marvel actual series, IMHO, are still Daredevil seasons 1&2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage up until they killed off Cottonmouth).

On a side note, that was a pretty amazing string of great villains during those series:
Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin
David Tennant as Kilgrave
Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth

I doubt Marvel will have a string of villains that good ever again, even if the writing gets better.

4. Secret Invasion is one of the best comics that came out during a run of REALLY good comic series by Marvel. If you haven't read them they are (in order - best reading to understanding the catalysts of each):
Avengers Disassembled
House of M
Civil War
Planet Hulk (Occurs at the same time as Civil War)
World War Hulk
Secret Invasion
Dark Reign
Siege

As it stands, if there ever is an "House of M" it will look drastically different. We already got Civil War, are getting Secret Invasion, and they're setting up Planet Hulk.

Dark Reign is heavily focused on Norman Osborn, who is unlikely to ever appear in an MCU movie at the rate they and Sony get along with each other, so that will probably look different.

Fingers crossed that Samuel L Jackson can redeem the MCU on Disney+. I didn’t expect to like Moon Knight more than everything since Loki, but here we are.

I doubt they'll make a deal with Sony to have him show up in a live action TV show.

This article about "What If?" explains

quote:

Sony has the rights to animated TV shows where the episodes run more than 44 minutes. But What If..?'s episodes are only half an hour in length, so Marvel won't have had any difficulty using Spider-Man in this show.

I just can’t get into marvel anymore. It has lost the magic.

Does Cobi Smulders comments confirm that Fury went up to heal in space during Winter Soldier?

Where is the continuity. Where are the lead ins? What are we building towards? It’s all just filler. Just content for the sake of it.

i would argue the Fantastic Four run starting around issue 150 where they joined the inhumans which moved into the negative zone with annihilus and ultimately the battle between the high evolutionary vs galactus, the impossible man, appearnce of the Frightful Four, the kidnapping of Franklin by Agatha Harkness and the Salem 7 ultimately culminating in the death of Reed in issue 200 was about as solid as it gets.

Fantastic (no pun intended) run but this was the 1970s so most people probably have never read it.

eta prepubescent me was ...very interested in this run of comics

oh yeah there was a story around this time too

I thought this trailer looked fantastic. Stark contrast form the last few lighter and more comedy driven shows. I didn't read the comics so I don't know anything about Secret Invasion so I didn't know what to expect or really care that much but this trailer has me excited for it. Looks like a more action/thriller vibe to as opposed to agenda driven or quippy as some have been
