Netflix’s Cobra Kai has been renewed for a sixth and final season.

The final season, which promises to be “the biggest and baddest” season of all, is set to begin production in late spring, Deadline hears.

The news was announced by series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg in a letter to fans on Friday. In it, the trio shared a tribute to the world of the Karate Kid, a universe they loved so much as kids when they couldn’t have imagined they’d one day grow up to expand into a six-season series. Not only did they bring the stories of underdog turned hero Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and misunderstood bully Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) to legions of OG fans, but they also inspired a whole new generation.

Will be sad to see Johnny go, but I'm glad they're ending it on their own terms. I think the timing is right.

Six seasons is a good run.

Good for them.

Shows often overstay their welcome and it ends up ruining the good work the earlier seasons laid down.

Plus, it’s also the kind of show that you could 100% see them doing another reboot in10 years when the kids are adults and Johnny/LaRusso are elders.

6 seasons out of this show's concept is pretty fantastic.

Good, though I'm concerned that we won't get a Hillary Swank appearance because she's currently preggers. Yes, I know her KK movie was awful but it would still be cool to see all of the Miyagi students join forces in the show.

I enjoy the show but it's too profane for much of the target audience.

The target audience is genX and millennials chasing the nostalgia dragon.

I love the show but I am glad to see that they aren't going to drag it out. It's rare these days to see a show go out before it takes a downturn.

It is, but I'm sure they are going to do a spinoff or something. I haven't heard anything but it just makes sense.

This is as far as they could possibly go... unless Julie Pierce shows up

Don't know what season 6 possibly holds. They could have ended at the season 5 finale. Been a very entertaining show.

The target audience is also kids that are the same age as many of the actors.

I would love to watch this show with my teenage kids, but haven’t done so for this reason.
