Yep, she was originally going to be Sydney but she asked to be cast as Casey Becker for it to be shocking when she was killed.
Im going to see this at 6:30 tonight, should we make this the thread or start a spoiler thread for out of the theater reactions?

Yeah, not sure what he is talking about, I went to see it opening night and I remember it being packed.
A lot of cinemas in smaller markets that had fewer screens originally declined to order the movie due to it being released close to Christmas. They did not order due to limited screens in favor or more traditional seasonal fare.
It had a 6.4 million opening weekend.
Word of mouth from the places it was viewed sparked the smaller markets to realize they made a mistake.
If I am remembering correctly and I am pretty sure I am, once it became known and wildly popular studios had to scramble to get more reels made which caused a weeks long
delay in large areas of country before it was available close to home.
So it was not so much of a re-release as it was a protracted release.

Got tickets for a 6 PM showing this evening. Looking forward to seeing Ghostface back in action!

Enjoy! I saw it last night, its a worthy entry into the series. Its in the upper tier for me.

Everything was so great except the Ghostface reveal, I was quite disappointed. But it was actually solid Scream film. This Ghostface was the most brutal yet.

Definitely the weakest part of the film, one persons performance in particular just wasnt good, felt very cheesy. The rest of the movie was top notch though.

My 13 year old loves scary movies and we always watch them. She’s seen all the Screams. Lol
Is this one too gory?

Its definitely the most gory of the Scream movies but its not like its a Saw movie or anything. If she has seen those then she is fine with this. Im not gonna make the decision for you

I have turned this thread into a discussion one to protect those of us who have yet to see the movie from spoilers. I will be back this evening to share my thoughts.

I just got out. Thought it was great. For a 2+ hour movie it kept my attention the entire time and was pretty intense throughout. Very well done imo. This movie wasn’t even on my radar but I’m going to theaters a bit more with my MoviePass so I thought I’d give it a shot when the 90+% user reviews started rolling in.

I just got out as well. I liked it better than Scream 5. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera are fantastic successors to the original trio of protagonists. I absolutely loved the opening kills and thought it was the best opening to a Scream film since the original with Drew Barrymore.
The reveal of the killers didn't bother me as much as it did some earlier posters and I thought it did a decent job of continuing the "requel" trope by homaging the motivations of the killers in Scream 2.
If there is one gripe I had with the film it's the inconsistencies of the stabbings. Samara Weaving's character was stabbed in the opening much the same way as Chad at the start of the final act. She died while Chad survived. Also...Tara was stabbed right in the abdomen by one of the killers in the film's final 10 minutes and walked it off like it was nothing. Same thing for Anika earlier in the film. She was quite literally gutted from spleen to sternum and still managed to almost get away. That wound should have killed her right on the spot.

One insanely smart move in the movie was by Gale when she was on the phone with GF and she was like hold on a minute the hung up and dialed GF’s phone. Probably one of the smartest moves I’ve ever seen a character in horror movie make

That was one awesome Scream movie. Especially the ending. Sam’s ending was so much better than the reveal imo.
ETA: I called the plot after the scene where Sam admits to her alibi and then the alibi dies in the very next scene.
Can’t believe they recycled the plot from Scream 2, but it worked out great.

Missed this thread for some reason. It was fun. I disliked 5 so
I’m glad I went to this one. Lead actress has gotten less annoying.

I had a strong suspicion that Detective Bailey was in on it when they found that shrine to the Ghostface killers. How else does some one come upon all of that memorabilia without having access to an evidence locker? I know they had a throw away line about greedy cops taking money as a possible explanation but I didn't quite buy it. I also figured Ethan was one of the killers from the very beginning. However, Quinn's involvement was a surprise and I really liked how they had her fake her own death only to show up in the final act.

Sitting down for round 2 now!
Posted on 3/11/23 at 3:24 pm to The Godfather
SPOILER:
It was good to see Kirby come back. The reason behind the murders was much better this time than in Scream 5, although the shrine was a bit over the top. It was definitely a lot more violent than previous films in the franchise. Killing off a well-known actor before the opening credits used to be part of the franchise's trademark. I'm glad they brought that back.

There was supposed to be a trilogy started with 4 that got scrapped after it underperformed. It would have been revealed then that she survived 4. They teased it last year in 5 and now she is back in 6.

I love what they are doing with Sam... nothing will top the original trio, but i really like the core 4. It may not be realistic at all, but im glad Chad survived.

This will always be “Kirby” to me. Nothing weird. I’ve just seen RTT 20 times.
