And that was the point. Craven wrote the movies in a tongue in cheek way that made them social commentary (not political) with some meta discussions about horror films and franchises.

Horror like that is horror done right.

Craven didn't write a single movie.

What happened to her? She was the "it" girl and then vanished from the screen.

She was about to get type cast and wanted no part of it. After Scream was released, the only offers that would come her way were roles in horror movies and romantic comedies. So she temporarily quit acting and moved to London to get away from it all.

Craven was the director, he didn't write them.

Does anyone else find it funny that what turns out to be the catalyst for the first three movies, a series distributed by one of Harvey Weinstein's companies, was an aspiring Hollywood actress being raped/passed around a studio?

Is there really much difference between a sequel and reboot in a horror franchise?

Especially with a movie like Scream. If they just remake the original, you already know the twist, so it would have to be a different story, which basically makes it a sequel. It just wouldn’t be in canon with the original.

HOWEVER, there is also a possibility that Scream 5 might not be Scream 5 at all but a reboot of the franchise. If they do that, however, I will not be watching. It's either a sequel or bust for me.

Hollywood is just rehashing old scripts and most of the time they're complete shite. Not everything needs a reboot. The novelty of the Scream series ran out after the 3rd film. I loved how first two began with an A-list actor getting murdered before the opening credits.

My siblings showed me Scream 1 on vacation when I was 8 years old and it was, to this day, the most scared I've ever been from a movie. I wouldn't walk outside in the dark alone the last few days of our family vacation in Florida.

I'll never forget the dark family room we were in. Vivid memory.

If they reboot the movie franchise I have an idea as to how it's going to go and I want no part of it.

So you’re boycotting any potential reboot based on a reboot idea you have that’s completely independent of what the actual reboot will be?

This is so tired.

People largely avoid “original” films on a big stage. They’re not nearly as safe.

Nolan had to make DKR to get Inception off the ground. Original is risky.

If people went to see original films, maybe we would get more. But that’s not so much the case.

No, she wasn’t jealous. She wanted to replace her. She was a psycho.

And why did she want to replace her?

You’re so close.

I know. And it's not the word you're thinking! It was envy. Not jealousy.

So sorry. Thanks for playing.

Envy is the coveting of something while jealousy is the fear of something being taken away.

Yes.

I'd much rather the franchise continue to follow the trio of Sidney, Dewey, and Gale.
