Entire cast is kind of ridiculous.

This movie was hugely influential on me as a young adult. I think I was 19 when I first saw it. It’s amazing how much my life in my late 20’s/early 30’s resembles the lives of the characters in that movie (minus the dating an underage girl part). I mean, I literally play in a punk band (two, actually, one of which on bass) with a bunch of sarcastic and neurotic video game-obsessed friends all still trying to make it while on a constant journey to find self-love, atone for past mistakes, and be torn between superficial relationships with significantly younger women who actually treat me really well (early 20’s) and a seemingly unattainable and emotionally distant manic pixy dream girl cliche with a checkered past of crazy ex-bf’s who I keep randomly running into (thankfully, no fisticuffs to date).

Whether purposely or accidentally, my life has imitated art to an absurd degree.

He was basically Juno's HS boyfriend (Paulie) now at 22.

Plays in a band - check
Mousy but comically inoffensive demeanor - check
Vastly outkicks his coverage in landing hotness - check

He also plays the same character in “Youth in Revolt” along side Brie Larson. I maintain that “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” is actually a sequel. Especially since “Youth in Revolt” was filmed first and stuck in development hell for many years.

Juno, Youth in Revolt, and Scott Pilgrim are like a trilogy developing the same character.

Was I the only one who noticed the cartoonishness level amped up towards the end of the movie?

Towards the end? The whole movie was half comic book, half video game. It certainty got bigger and more over the top towards the end, but that's how most movies work.
