Worst episode, plot-wise, of the series IMO. If I had one beef with the show it would be the way they tried to "flip" Jacob and the Man in Black. It was too forced.

And it could have been so great.
Instead of writing the episode about where they came from, they should have focused on what they do.

I always thought it would have been funny for Sun to run towards Jin when they finally reconnect only to have the beams still on which kills her.

I still say that the purgatory ending was solely from Jack's perspective.
Then what is the point of the other characters having their "realization" moments in purgatory that Jack did not witness and was not cognizant of? If they are all figments of his imagination like his son then that's a terrible cop out by the writers

I just saw where iwy mentioned the scene earlier in the thread. Jack has cried (kinda) at least one other time and its another scene i was looking to post because its one of my favorite scenes in the show. When Sawyer tells Jack in Season 1 about talking to his dad in the bar.

Then when it shows Hurley, Kate and Jack out on the beach and Hurley asks "where's Jin and Sun?" Hurley and Kate bust into tears and then Jack walks out to the beach and cries. O man, sad stuff right there. I could be wrong, but that was the only time I remember Jack crying on the island.

Another one that hasn't been mentioned: Hurley becomes the Protector of the Island
