George RR Martin wrote himself into his own story as the overweight historian of the Seven Kingdoms.
He will continue to subvert expectations as Sam has been the likeliest candidate to die out of the characters introduced in S1 E1 considering a gentle, selfless fat writer is not supposed to survive in this world.
