Wait I missed something... Where does this one fit in the timeline of Star Wars? Is this a prequel to all?

Love the fact they didn't show vader. It's only the teaser trailer so we'll probably get about 2 more trailers. This movie looks pretty great so far, and compared to the the epic episode 7, this movie gives us a break from the force and focuses on the War part of Star Wars. Wouldn't be suprised if it turns out to be my favorite one yet

I guess it was decent for a Godzilla movie. He should (hopefully) be able to do a better job with this source material.

It's about the rebels stealing the plans for the first Death Star. The one Leia puts into R2D2 at the beginning of A New Hope.

In New Hope they mentioned something about a team stealing the plans for the death star, which leads to alderan getting blown up. This movie focuses on that. It's basically somewhere either between episode 3 and 4 or right before episode 4

boba fett is so popular and interesting because

1. He's mysterious, we know enough about him that the things we don't know makes our imaginations work overtime. He's never named in the movie (except for the credits) he's the man with no names from the dollars trilogy but even moreso, we don't even see his face

2. vader respects him, which means he's beyond competent (as vader treats everyone as if they are not) and bad to the bone

3. he's a bad motherfricker - his costume has wear, scratches, blaster marks, rips all over it. he's clearly a formidable killer and this is why his death in jedi is so lame (this adds to the mystery factor, imagine how he got all of those marks and holes)

4. he's crafty and smart. han solo is was outrageously ingenious by sticking his ship onto the back of the destroyer and floating away with the garbage. an unpredictable move for everyone but boba fett. also kind of comes across like a tracker that will find you no matter what.

5. He looks awesome - he has a cool costume, a cool gun, a cool jetpack, a cool ship...he's unique.

I think they got a lot out of a character who has two lines and a few minutes of screen time. the prequels ruined him (not for me, I just don't consider them at all) and so he's a good character to redeem by exploring his world in ways that aren't lame, like that stupid fricking Polynesian kid.

yeah, but the problems with that movie are unforced errors...star wars isn't complex, you can't ignore basic story structure and character needs. but maybe you're right, what else would you expect from godzirra

to me there's a brilliance to basic story structure

I don't blame them, jedi is a lazy rehash of the original

they had to beg lucas not to have 2 death stars in jedi

When did Darth Vader ever wear a cloak over his head?

I think that is the Emporer. I may be wrong but I've never seen Vader represented with a hooded robe.

there have been 4 movies that took a legendary and iconic screen villain and ruined him, this better not make 5...poor guy has been through enough

there's nothing to add to his character, but maybe they can re-establish him as the ultimate screen villain from star wars and empire

no more whining, no more struggling with good and evil, just be evil...and don't make him a slave to the emperor, make him the emperor's ultimate tool and right hand man.

Looked really good. Granted, it's just a teaser but I like the tone of this one.

For the record, I'm not wild about the anthology films all coming off of events or characters from the episodic narrative. I would much rather they create some new storylines or do some Knights of the Old Republic stuff. That said, I do think this film could be interesting because it gets away from the Skywalker story.

Any else think the man in the white with the cape was Tarkin? It looked like Ben Mendelsohn playing the character.

SPOILERS:

Based off some interviews with Pablo Hidalgo - whose is responsible for cannon - people are speculating that he's Grand Admiral Thrawn.

I guess he could be Thrawn without the blue skin since Thrawn is no longer cannon and they can do what they want with him but that would be a weird choice.

Question. Does anyone have a problem with the fact that that trailer had absolutely no fun in it whatsoever? Do you think the actual movie will have funner characters and moments?

Gareth Edwards is directing. I admittedly was kind of disappointed that Godzilla wasn't as fun as it could have been.

I mean, nobody smiled in the entire trailer. People looked pretty pissed. I get that that will appeal to some people, but will any of you miss the "fun" of Star Wars? Just curious.

People getting this wrong annoys the hell out of me. If you don't know that Mon Mothma was in Jedi, not a new hope, you have no business in this discussion.
