Rick Moranis May Return in Disney's Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Reboot Shrunk

The good news:
quote:

It appears that Rick Moranis might have a bigger soft spot for Honey, I Shrunk the Kids than he does for the Ghostbusters franchise. According to sources, the actor is in talks to reprise the role of Wayne Szalinski, a scientist who accidentally shrinks his and two neighboring kids.
The bad news:
quote:

He will reportedly star alongside Josh Gad, who will be playing Szalinski's adult son Nick. The reboot is titled Shrunk and is being called a "legecyequel," which means "it will exist in the same world and continue the overall storyline."

Why is Josh Gad bad news? I've seen him in a few different movies and feel like he would play a pretty good nerd/goof son of Wayne. As long as they don't try to write in slapstick comedy and let his natural persona carry the comedy, I think he could do well.

I'm over him, go back to Ghostbusters or spaceballs mock reboot.

Honey was kinda..not the best film to return visit right now. He had better parts in film history

I hear ya, and I love Honey I Shrunk the Kids (the original anyway), but I'd be personally honored to be associated with the original Ghostbusters, even if I was a minor character. Most actors will go their entire careers without being in a movie that memorable and beloved.

I dont have any numbers to support this, but seems like remakes/reboots are at an all time high in the entertainment industry.

When was this ever happening? During the golden age of Hollywood almost everything was an adaptation of a book or stage play. When was this mythical time that all the best stuff was original?
