'Resident Evil' Official Trailer #1 | Directed by Zack Cregger. Currently at 98% RT score

Won't see this in theaters, but I will definitely watch it. That's a solid trailer.

Cant wait for this one.

Looks to be a faithful adaptation, I'm in.

Loved the original trilogy. Didnt like the others. But this is a good trailer so I will probably watch.

Jovanovich?? was never in any one of them. She got to play the part because she was married to Paul Anderson. She basically fricked and sucked her way into being the main character.

They were bullchit movies.

Whether this movie is good or not really doesn't even concern me, I'm fundamentally against hijacking an IP's brand name and using it as a vehicle to for someone to tell their own little story. This has happened a billion times before and looks no different here. Just a zombie movie set in winter time, you could slap a new title on it and nobody would have ever known it was "Resident Evil"

Hmm...this is a tough one to decipher.

On one hand, I agree about how frustrating it is to see IP get hijacked. Though to be fair, in many ways the RE franchise hijacked itself. It began as a mostly-grounded biological horror/thriller but somewhere along the line turned into some kind of supernatural/action hero/paranormal/Silent Hill hybrid with just a thin veneer of "T-Virus."

I admit I was bummed by this. I loved the "regular joe caught in a SNAFU" concept which is what I think most fans would agree is the franchise's sweet spot.

So that being said, I actually like what the trailer shows us. Seems like the filmmaker understands RE's roots and is trying to take us back to that.

I won't be such a purist that it HAS to focus on the Redfields, Leon, etc. but I would love to see those characters woven into the plot (it's still Raccoon City after all).

And totally agreed that the shotgun/ammo thing is probably the most RE thing that an RE movie has given us to date. And, of course, the typewriter

Cautiously optimistic for this one.
