The more I see of this movie, the more I prepare myself to be disappointed. Don’t like the look of the resistance storyline in the real world they seem to be adding. Movie didn’t need it, stick to the Oasis except for the indentured part.
The little riddle they did across a ton of social media networks to release this was a blast.

I am preparing for disappointment too.
It looks like Parzival and Art3mis meet in real life much sooner than the book which is a shame.
Also Halliday looks horribly miscast

This just doesn’t look like the book that I love. I will still go see it but I am ramping down my expectations

On my 2nd listening of this book and this is the movie I am most looking forward to right now. I am not getting my hopes up but if done right, this could be great. Trailers have me feeling mixed hoping they dont overdo it.

I was 100% prepared for this movie to not be a good as the book or anywhere close. But this trailer changed my mind a little. Seeing clips of all of the SS movies before made me trust the process.

getting decent reviews so far, I was listening to an interview of some people that saw it at SXSW and they said Halliday was a strong point of the movie.

Yup. Just prepare for the movie to be a rough outline and not a page for page adaptation. Enjoy the movie for what it is and not expect the book on film.
ETA: and whoever held out for licensing royalties is a fool. This movie alone will boost any sales. If not oh well. But this is one you roll the dice and hope it pays dividends on later.
