The only thing I really had an issue with in season 6 was Arya running away from the Waif after getting gutted.

I agree with a lot of this, but The Winds of Winter was a damn masterpiece from start to finish.
It had some really good moments. I’ve only seen it twice, so I’m not going to get deep in an argument. But there’s little of the “human heart in conflict with itself” element that’s so important to GRRM and has made Game of Thrones so good.
The (I believe) cold opening where the Frey pie plot is played out is one of those moments like Arya’s stabbing. How the hell did she survive sepsis? How the hell did she murder a bunch of Freys, butcher them, and bake them into pies in a kitchen full of Frey cooks, scullions, and other servants?

I introduced my gf to it. So it is a rewatch for me and her first time watching it. We are beginning Season 6 tonight. We average 2 episodes a night. She is enjoying it and I have noticed a lot more things this time around.

After falling into a canal full of waste that’s a microcosm of some of the issues that the show has had in later seasons.
Yeah, that whole Arya vs Waif sequence could have been better. Not only was the chase unbelievable, but they also made Arya behave like an idiot prior to that.

This doesn't bother me (FYI: the pie part was just part of the season 6 finale, the cold open for season 7 was a full Frey massacre). There's no reason to think she had to drag their whole bodies into the kitchens and butcher them there in front of the help.

I started re-watching with CC on and it's changing my life. Didn't realize how much I was missing or misunderstanding.
Same here. The CC definitely helps. I’m on S2E2 on the rewatch. Ya little twats.
