A few friends and I debated this last night and all had varying opinions. I’m interested to hear what the board thinks. If your post contains spoilers, give sufficient warning for those who haven’t seen each show.

How I have it:

1. Sopranos
2. The Wire
3. Breaking Bad
4. Better Call Saul (can arguably be lumped in with Breaking Bad)
5. Game of Thrones

Breaking Bad is better than The Wire. Especially when you think of The Wire seasons 4 & 5.

The Wire and GOT had the highest peak but they didn't stick the landing and finished on a bad note.

Sopranos and Breaking Bad were consistently great throughout, so I would give them a slight edge.

BCS was solid but a notch below all of the above. Doubt I would even put it in the top 10 with shows like The Americans, Mad Men, etc. being better. But if you lump it into Breaking Bad, the combo package probably takes the top spot.

Comparing the ending of the Wire to GOT is ridiculous. GOT destroyed 6 seasons of story and character growth to rush to end so the show runners could work on a project that was scrapped.

The Wire’s last season was just not quite as good as the previous ones. The ending was exactly what it should have been, nothing changes except the names of the players

1 - LOST
2 - BB
3 - Game of Thrones
4 - Sopranos
5 - Better Call Saul
6 - The Wire

LOST will always be #1 for me. I just never fell in love with The Wire like so many here. I have even tried to go back and watch it but I just dont love it. Probably just me.

Endings do not destroy great seasons. Only if you want it to. GOT did not end like we all wanted it to but that was a fantastic journey. Same with other shows that did not end like everyone wanted them to.

I just dont buy into that thought process

1. The Sopranos
2. Breaking Bad
3. Game of Thrones (on the strength of Seasons 1-4)
5. The Wire (really good but last season sucked minus the Bubbles story arc)

Rewatching both Sopranos & The Wire, I think all of the praise that The Wire constantly gets (the series is like a great American novel, it so layered and rich in meanings etc.) I think The Sopranos does better in every single aspect.

Was Lost really that good? I haven't watched one episode of it. Just doesn't seem to appeal to me. I may give it a shot.

The Wire would be 1 for me.

I’m Not sure what this is supposed to mean The last 2 seasons of GOT are garbage that doesn’t make the first 6 bad if that’s what you are trying to say those are still incredible.

The only thing I wanted in the end was it to be true to the story and characters and not be completely stupid.

I have never watched The Sopranos but BB had a slow start. Season 1 and the first part of season 2 are very slow.

If you have a wonderful relationship for 6 years then your wife become a demonic cheating bitch for the last 2 causing a divorce, you don't see how someone would characterize the marriage on the whole as a failure?

THIS

The ending is GRRM ending but it makes absolutely no sense considering that Season 7 & 8 shite the bed and rushed everything, instead of taking their time to build to that conclusion. Also making Bran super unlikeable and basically a poor man’s Dr. Manhattan for 2 seasons did not favors whatsoever when it came to the ending. Also I think the white walker storyline ending is so much worse than the Daenerys storyline, but that’s for another day.
