Was apollo in his prime though when he and rocky first fought?

He was a 34 year old undefeated heavyweight champion in the first fight and he won.

Creed completely dominated the second fight on points, but Rocky just did what Rocky does and took a massive beating and kept coming. Creed's manager begged Creed to just sit back and play defense and he would win easily. Creed wanted the knockout. He gave the fight away trying to get it.

Ok.

I goobled the above discussion. It's pretty good and you're right. Apollo in his prime beats all of them.

Yeah I'm with you man. That clubber was frickin' nasty and he got all up in rocky's cranium. Really fricked with him good. Talking about frickin' is old lady and all kinds of shite.

Mean.

Not to mention, Clubber Lang's beef with Rocky was legit. He was under the impression Rocky was avoiding a fight with him, denying him a chance at the title.

Clubber Lang. Drago was immediately shaken up when Rocky landed one good punch.

Lol, yeah okay. Drago went to the 15th round before getting knocked out. Clubber didn't last 3. He would've punched himself out rather quickly and ineffectively. Clubber would be laying next to Apollo...

Prime Apollo is the correct answer though.

Meh, it's worth debating but while Creed's attitude (and mouth) were based on Ali, Creed as a boxer was basically the answer to "What would Sugar Ray Leonard do to people if he was 6'2 and 220 plus pounds?"

That's a terrifying prospect.

Hard for me to choose number one between Drago and Apollo
Drago the obvious puncher but Apollo brings the complete package and is most likely my number one.

I have Rocky at number 3 and Lang 4th. (Lol at y’all thinking Lang beats Drago)

Mason Dixon and Tommy Gunn are on the outside looking in.

Spider is bussing tables.

I haven’t seen any of the Creed movies so I can’t rank them.

To answer the OP:

1) Apollo Creed
2) Rocky Balboa (Balboa and Dixon are almost interchangeable here)
3) Mason Dixon
4) Ivan Drago
5) Ricky Conlan
6) Clubber Lang
7) Adonis Creed
8) Viktor Drago

**Huge Drop**

9) Tommy Gunn

**Huge Drop**

10) Spider Rico

You have Spider way too high.

Union Cane would come in somewhere in the top 10. He was a paper champion, but still lightyears ahead of Spider Rico.

I would also move Gunn up on size alone. Tommy had 45 pounds on Adonis Creed, and Creed struggled mightily with Viktor Drago.

In terms of boxers?

Drago was the worst. Dude didn't even know how to box.

He just lumbered around the ring with his big right hand sticking out trying to throw overhand rights to the head.

He had no jab, never threw an uppercut, couldn't move for shite in the ring.

I completely forgot he existed to be honest.

In Creed 1 when Adonis was a light-heavyweight, sure.

In Creed 2 when he moved up to heavyweight he was at 214 lbs.

Gunn was at 220lbs when he fought.

Sounds a lot like Clubber Lang... No skills, just throw haymakers. GTFO with that BS

I am going to compare them by how they were at their best as seen in the movies:

1. Ivan Drago (Rocky IV): Lost to Balboa trying to go for the knockout in the last round when he was miles ahead on points. Same mistake Creed made in Rocky II.

2. Rocky Balboa (Rocky III): The Rocky who showed up in the 2nd fight Lang fight was the best Rocky. He had his signature toughness combined with more speed and skill.

3. Clubber Lang (Rocky III): Mean as hell with some serious power. Only weakness was his stamina.

4. Apollo Creed (Rocky II): Probably the best technical fighter in the series, but I don't think he was physically tough enough to beat the fighters listed above him. He would never knock out a focused Rocky in prime physical shape (Rocky III / IV) and if Lang or Drago ever got him in a corner they would pulverize him.

5: Tommy Gunn (Rocky V): A lesser version of Lang.

6. Adonis Creed (Creed II): A lesser version of Apollo.

7. Viktor Drago (Creed II): A lesser version of Ivan.

8. Mason Dixon (Rocky Balboa): Almost lost to Rocky when he was like 60.

9. Union Cane (Rocky V): Paper champion who was a bum with no heartbeat.

10. Spider Rico (Rocky): Just has a cool name.

FIFY

1. Apollo Creed (Rocky II): Probably the best technical fighter in the series and in his prime, would have all the tools to beat any of the other fighters

2. Ivan Drago (Rocky IV): Lost to Balboa trying to go for the knockout in the last round when he was miles ahead on points. Same mistake Creed made in Rocky II. If Rocky wasn't avenging Apollo, Rocky would've lost.

3. Rocky Balboa (Rocky III): The Rocky who showed up in the 2nd fight Lang fight was the best Rocky. He had his signature toughness combined with more speed and skill.

4. Clubber Lang (Rocky III): Mean as hell with some serious power. Only weakness was his stamina.

Union Cane was called a paper Champion, but only had one career loss and reclaimed the world title by Koing Tommy Gunn. He should be higher up.

Instead of his son, we should have gotten a prequel of Apollo. I didn’t watch the Creed movies yet but an Apollo prequel has to be a better story.
