I really need to watch this series sometime soon.

Recommendations on where to see it?

Why did it get canceled?

If Firefly could do another movie, it would be a summer blockbuster and would make a fortune.

Yea, it only aired nine or so episodes and was moved to like 3 or 4 different time slots...

Networks like ABC, FOX, NBC, and CBS are always going to be impatient ratings whores. They are the worst. They don't give new shows time to grow and get its target audience. If they don't see the ratings they want after a few weeks, bam they pull the plug.

They will never learn why people don't watch their shows much anymore. They don't watch them because the shows are highly likely to get cancelled and they don't want to invest time, energy, and emotion in a show only to have it get cancelled thanks to some execs that have their buttholes puckered up.

ETA: They also have started a trend of having a month off between episodes. 4 straight new episodes then a month off. Trying to make a season stretch from September to April-May. That shite sucks.

Premium channels say frick that model and show all in consecutive weeks with maybe the finale having a two week wait.

The thing was, as someone else pointed out, the reason the show did horribly is because Fox just screwed the pooch from the get go.

They aired the episodes out of order. They moved the time slot multiple times.

It was just a massive frickup from start to finish.

Fox has done that several times with both The New Girl and The Mindy Project this year. Both have had several multiple week breaks and have even randomly run two new episodes in the same week on different days.

New Girl

Mindy Project

Also, The Mindy Project isn't even running the correct order so many smaller multi episode story-lines don't necessarily make sense until later weeks.

The Alphabet Networks have become as bad as MTV. Anything with actual originality and talent is overlooked by whoever the networks are pushing.

I've honestly started waiting til season 2 on most shows to take them up. With netflix and other online availability, it allows me to decide if its going to continue before I get emotionally invested in the show.

This is a really disturbing trend. Seasons dont start til October, then take a month off for Christmas, usually take all of March off and half of April, then show three or four and finish first of May. Fox is famous for showing a season premier in Sept, then no new episodes until November.
