Battleship Potemkin. One of the best films of the 20's and it's on Instant.

A top five Hitchcock film IMO, The 39 Steps(1935), was on instant, not sure if it still is, is a great watch.

The list of good classic movies is endless, just throwing out some on Netflix Instant.

How is Netflix's classic movie selection?

I find it fairly sparse, hence my starting this thread.

I'm hoping to gather all suggestions and do a 'hit and miss' search.

I'll put together some links for all my netflix instant classic movie recommends.

I used to post them all in the instant sticky thread but maybe like one person would bother to watch any of them so I quit.

Constantcough, Fletch. Thank you.

I'm watching Netflix through their cable service, so a list of movies would be great.

TIA

Judgement at Nuremberg is one of my all time favorites. Watch once a year.

Seems obvious, I know, but I know a shocking amount of younger film buffs who have never seen it.

Truly great film that deserves every bit of praise it gets.

I'll go through it and come back with movies on Netflix. Sorry for just listing regular favorites instead of those on Netflix in my previous post.

Are you wanting to know about just the old ones or the 60's & 70's ones too?

Examples: Chinatown, Midnight Cowboy, Three Mules for Sister Sara (all very good and under classics but not what I thought you were asking about).

All of his silent features except two (Go West and Battling Butler) are masterpieces. As are most of his solo silent shorts. The greatest run any filmmaker has ever had.

My other faves from your list:

The Conversation
Sabrina
One, Two, Three
Witness For the Prosecution

Just the old, plus anything out of the ordinary/not mainstream which you think most people would have not heard of from those decades.
