So I rewatched this movie for the first time in a long time. I know this movie gets a ton of criticism.

I think it had the responsibility of following a great movie in Casino Royale, and thus has a ton of expectations.

I must say I enjoyed seeing Bond driven by his internal need for revenge and closure for someone he truly cared about. It had your typical Bond crazy action scenes, I must say the opening car chase scene was one of the best shot car scenes in the Bond series.

Typical Bond girls, excellent musical score. The plot did get kinda messy with quite a few subplots and I think too much location jumping (even for a Bond movie).

I wouldn’t rate this anywhere near a Top 10 Bond list, but I’d give this one a solid 6/10.

What say the MTV Board?

Quantum of Solace isn’t a bad movie but for whatever reasons Craig’s Bond films are wildly and oddly misjudged. As a Bond fanatic it’s one of the strangest phenomena in all 24-26 movies.

I saw Quantum of Solace in the theater and my main criticism is that it is just plain boring:

None of the succeeding Craig films after Casino Royale could hold my attention. The only saving grace for Skyfall and Spectre was Roger Deakins’ cinematography.

Quantum is super boring. It’s the worst Craig Bond movie because the villain’s evil plot is actually significantly less evil than the real life plot that the movie was based on, and which actually f$&king happened.

Craig movies get hate because Craig isn’t particularly suave, he doesn’t always get every girl, everything is gritty, nothing feels glamorous, and there’s almost zero camp or silliness. Bond fans like the cheesiness.

Casino Royal is excellent.
Quantum is boring.
Skyfall has a kinda dumb plot, but is super fun.
Haven’t seen Spectre, but I know it’s not well regarded.

Idk to me the movies weren’t boring, at least up until Spectre. Spectre to me anyway was the worst Craig Bond movie.

I just was completely disinterested watching it.

What they should’ve done was drive home the scale of how far reaching and powerful Quantum was while hinting something even bigger was lurking behind it. Instead it was partly an end to Casino Royale and partly the beginning of Skyfall. It’s just too vague and splintered but taken as an episode in the Spectre storyline it’s not a bad movie. It just wasn’t tightened up correctly.

Agree Spectre is the worst of the Craig movies. It’s a stupid story and the score, besides the classic Bond theme, is so bad it’s distracting.

From CR to Skyfall, they really wanted to turn Bond into a psychologically damaged, gritty persona. It was in the wake of Jason Bourne and Nolan’s take on Batman, and everyone thought “gritty” automatically made a movie more modern.

In truth, Tony Stark is this generation’s James Bond in some ways. He sips liquor and lounges around his bachelor pad, but rockets halfway around the world, swaggers, and kills bad guys. Iron Man has the glamour and swagger of Sean Connery.

And I don’t think that was a bad direction to go but falling in love twice within 3 films, Quantum is an extension of Casino, just seems forced. He hunts down Vespers killers then only comes out of retirement to save Ms arse and the next thing you know he’s in love and quitting again. There’s more than enough psychological scarring to explore outside of being pussy whipped every 10 minutes. They’ve taken a giant leap forward with Craig’s character in terms of practical combat and the action aspect of the new story, the Spectre angle was also a good idea but the romance and execution of how it’s tied in has been a huge downside.

We call it Quantum of Suckass

It's awful, and really cranked up the new, neurotic and brooding Bond that has run the franchise ragged.

Now, it's headed for the woke treatment, so they may as well just discontinue the franchise altogether.

This alone invalidates your opinion. The opening action scene was incomprehensible due to constant “quick cuts” aping the worse tendencies of the Bourne series. It was so choppy I’m pretty sure I had a seizure and missed some of it, thankfully.

I liked this movie, and I don't get the hate for it. Personally it's a solid 7/10 for me. Sure it has its flaws, but they aren't enough to tank the movie for me. It's a super fun experience

Casino Royale is an amazing movie and it set up such great potential for following films. It was a grounded Bond movie but the script, the acting, the pacing, the score, etc. was on point. The problem is the producers took all the wrong lessons from that movie and instead of forging ahead, they overreacted to Bourne. Quantum isn't a bad movie. It's just very meh. It's actually a better movie if you watch it immediately after Casino Royale.

Like someone else said, Bond falling in love & quitting is just an overplayed storyline at this point. Every fricking Craig movie involves him battling some sort of ghost from his past. The last movie where Bond didn't "go rogue" and simply went on a mission was The World Is Not Enough.

Spectre was a fun popcorn movie to watch in the theater but holy hell did they get lazy with the writing. They waited 30 years to get the rights back to Spectre and Blofeld and completely wasted it on an Austin Powers storyline.

No Time To Die looks like a cool movie and I'm intrigued by the potential Dr. No possibility, but I'm sure half the movie will involve explaining why he needs to come out of retirement again and then discovering that Rami Malek has some sort of connection to Swann's past.

To me, it wasn’t THAT bad with the Bourne style quick cuts. The worse scene funnily enough was just after, the chase/fight scene between Bond and M’s body guard that worked for Quantum.

That shite nearly gave me a seizure
