It's the jelly donut scene, he's in the back ground, never blinks.
Try to keep your eyes open as long as he does.

Crazy part is that 40 years ago Private Pile was considered morbidly obese.

I don't know about "morbidly", but he was definitely fat. I mean, I know everyone on the OT talks down on BMI in between their donuts and pizzas, but it is a more than adequate measure for the vast majority of folks.
Even crazier, Vincent D'Onofrio showed up at 6'3" (ish) and an athletic 212 or so pounds. Kubrick thought he was too intimidating. So, he had to bulk up, gaining almost 70 pounds of fat (to ~280) to convincingly portray Pyle. This gave him a BMI somewhere in the mid-30s - right at the edge of Class III (morbid) obesity, assuming he had at least one other comorbidity. Just going by height/weight ratio alone, he would have needed to be closer to 320 to 330 (assuming he was between 6'3" and 6'4" at the time of filming, when he was 27.)
It took 9 months to drop all that bad weight.
Flash forward to today, the "average" American male BMI is just a shade under 30 (the clinical threshold of obesity).

Yea, he was definitely fat. For army standards he was very fat. For society I don't think he was considered morbidly obese by their standards though. Such a great movie though.

I don't think Cowboy blinks either.

Right. My point being that he looks like the average dude walking around nowadays. Doesn't even look that fat compared to how his weight was perceived when the movie came out.

I went to basic not long after this movie. Our drill sergeants were very fond of it and quoted it throughout the cycle. It was to them what The Godfather was to wiseguys.
