And I think more independent and small budget films can/will be financed like this. Broken Lizard has a relatively modest sized, but fairly passionate fan-base. I mean even Dukes of Hazzard made money, although it was critically bashed.
They were saddled with some stunt casting and other issues, but don't blame Jay or the Broken Lizard guys for that.

It's a throwback to Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run and the original DoH series.
I just think the stunt casting (Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson? Please) doomed the thing from the beginning. The action sequences are sincere, I'll give you that.
