Ghost Hunters was legit tv when it first aired. Like the previous poster said, when they first started, their mission was to disprove the hauntings. Very rarely did a show end with them thinking there was paranormal activity going on. I guess after a season or two of that the creators realized that finding "ghosts" would draw more ratings than disproving them, so eventually it turned into every episode being them yelling "what's that!?!" and claiming every place is legit haunted.

Yeah he did, every episode was him trying to be "intimidating" to somebody that worked for them

I’ve never watched these kinds of shows. Just checking in here to say that the horror film Grave Encounters is pretty solid, and its premise involves these types of reality shows. Definitely would recommend.

I can’t believe that any of these shows have the viewership that they do.

I will occasionally watch a YouTube video of creepy CCTV footage, but watching a scripted paranormal investigation tv show has always seemed a little too gay for me.

Whenever the topic of these shows comes up, I run with this joke from Gravity Falls...

Gary Bunda: Demon Killer isn't like that. The main character is red, not white.

Now THOSE are creepy.

There are some out there of people just mysteriously disappearing.

I think the story of Elisa Lam is an example of that.

But as for these scripted piped-in scary noise "reality shows" - I don't see how anyone can find it entertaining when it's obviously just a show and boring. I mean, I can walk around my house at night with a haunted house CD playing on my stereo, freaking out with a video camera and call it a show.
